Hi Chantel, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Channy’s Naturals has been my baby for some time now. For years I spoke about wanting a business and being my own boss. The journey of Channy’s Naturals began when I was teaching. I had to work as an early childhood educator by day and a hairstylist on evenings and weekends to really survive, and I was simply, I was not happy. In May 2019, I handed in my resignation letter and took a leap of faith into my own journey to start my business. I had been doing hair for some time and making products like shea butters and oils as well so it was time to make the dream a reality. I knew this was the right decision to make because I could not think of doing anything else. It was now or never. It is safe to say that faith has brought me a mighty long way.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road to entrepreneurship is not easy. No one speaks of the hours you put into your craft, the heart/dedication it takes to run a business. Some of the struggles I’ve faced as a business owner is learning to take care of myself. In the business I am in, it requires me to be at my best because others are wanting to feel their best when they leave my chair or receive products. Other obstacles I face is staying organized. Many times there can be a lot goin on behind the scenes, so it is easy to forgot certain things.

Channy’s Naturals LLC is a company built out of love. I like to refer to myself as a Natural Hair Stylist/Herbalist for your natural hair care. I started this company in 2019 after being a teacher for a few years. I specialize in natural hair care, locs, and protective styling. I also create products that aid in moisturizing your tresses and adding nutrients and shine as well. What sets me apart form others is my heart and willingness to feed my passion. My goal in this industry is to show people the value in caring for your tresses. My goal is to allow others and just be at peace in my space. My goal is to provide an experience that serves self-care. I like to think of Channy’s Naturals as a safe space. What makes me most proud of my brand is the dedication and heart that is placed into it. My brand alone makes me proud because hair care isn’t the only things happening here. Channy’s Naturals not only caters to hair care and skincare; I also host events about building your own future, planning, and children’s events.
What matters most to you? Why?
My peace of mind and my child matter most to me the most. Peace of mind first because without a sound mind, you can not go very far. Peace is one of the greatest gifts anyone can have. My daughter matters most to me as well because her little face makes me want to go harder. She gives me the motivation to be my very best and I am forever grateful for that.
