Meet Charnae Ware

Today we’d like to introduce you to Charnae Ware.

Hi Charnae, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Born in raised in Columbus, GA a small town where I aspire to make a large impact. With that goal in mind, I will be competing in the 2021 Miss Georgia Earth Competition with the mission to Uplift E.A.R.T.H. (Environmental Awareness of Resources To build Healthier communities). This platform came about when I realized how much the environment plays an important role in our everyday activities and lives. Environmental resources create jobs and provide healthier ways of living. This competition is dear to my heart as I currently work as the Executive Director of Keep Columbus Beautiful, an environmental non-profit.

Through this position, I have been able to divert over 6,500 pair of shoes from the landfill, create a litter campaign called “Peachy Clean & Green,” as well as organized the largest southeastern watershed clean-up. I also have the pleasure of working with local and state elected leaders to improve our community. I am a graduate of Savannah State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications and a minor in Political Science. Currently, I am obtaining my Master’s of Public Administration in Government Administration at Columbus State University. After completing my master’s I plan to attend law school to become a criminal defense/environmental justice attorney to help defend and protect the rights of citizens. Community service is an important part of my life. My approach to reaching the community is largely inspired by service, which you’ll find reflected in my business and hobbies. When not keeping busy with work, I enjoy working within my community.

I am a member of Delta Sigma Theta, serving as the Economic Development Chair to help educate the minority community on building wealth and decreasing debt. I have always had a passion for encouraging women of all ages, which led me to start my business known as Flawless Image. This is a business offering: pageant coaching, public speaking, cosmetology, and business marketing consulting. The motto of Flawless Image is “Giving you an Image as Flawless as a Diamond” because I want to empower each client. Through this business, I have inspired women not only across Georgia but across the world as I also make YouTube my public speaking platform. Through this business, it led me to membership in the business sorority, Iota Phi Lambda, Inc. I believe that my journey has prepared me to be a pillar to all communities and young women across the state and nation!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My journey has not always been a smooth road. There have been plenty of moments where I wanted to give up on my dreams. I had insecurities, thinking my ideas and my image was not enough, but I quickly realized that if I did not believe in myself, then I would never make it. Comparison is the thief of all joy and oftentimes in the beauty industry and as females, we can take this to heart. I had to learn to become my unique true self and embrace every amazing thing about myself. I learned to love me! There is this motto I live by Becoming Y.OU. (Your Own Universe) meaning do not let society tell you who to become but to find your own path and make it your world! God has made us all unique so we must become what he called us to be. I remember when I competed in the Miss Georgia USA pageant in 2017, there was a young girl in attendance who inspired me to keep going. The young girl had been told by another pageant contestant that she did not posses the “pageant girl look” for competing. I was so frustrated that someone would tear this young girl’s dreams apart like that. So when I got off stage, I found that little girl and told her, “If I can get on stage with all my curves and imperfections, so can you. Never let anyone tell you what you should look like and what you can not do. Do it anyway!” That experience helped me become a pillar for image positivity and motivate others in the same manner.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am currently an Executive Director of a non-profit organization that focuses on environmental sustainability. I teach companies, schools, organizations, and individuals about ways to live a green life through things like recycling, composting, tree canopy, and so much more. I have successfully written grants and implemented city-wide social action campaigns pertaining to my organization. What I love most about my job is that I get to work closely with the elected officials, both local and state, to press a focus on environmental issues that affect our well-being and quality of life. This is so important because we have to take care of the Earth we live in for the generations to come after us. One thing I believe that sets me apart from others is my diversity in skills and my involvement at such a young age. Many times I am the youngest in the room, which can be a challenge but also a good thing. Something unique about me is that I have experience in the entertainment industry as well. I have been in a couple of independent films where I have won Best Actress in a film festival. I love to use my skills in all areas of the professional world.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up, I was always a social butterfly. If anyone knew how to work a room, it was me! I have always been the type to bring people together in a positive way. I love with makeup and acting. When I was younger, I just knew I would be a famous actor working for Tyler Perry lol but obviously, God had a must better plan for my life. One thing about me is I am going to find joy in everything, even in the bad moments, because I know there is always a positive in it to learn or grow from.
