Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My mother taught me how to bake cakes when I was a teen. However, I laid down my spatula after I left home and many years passed before I resumed baking. About 15 years ago, I started baking my family Christmas tradition, Fruit Cake. Last year, when everything shut down when COVID hit, I found myself with extra time on my hands, so I started baking pound cakes, sharing them with friends and posting on social media. As more friends and family started asking me to bake cakes, I decided to launch the business in May 2020. The business has grown steadily beyond my immediate friends and family. It’s a blessing to see how my cakes evoke fond childhood memories for my customers – memories of the cakes their mothers & grandmothers baked. And I love when my cakes make my customers happy – be it for a birthday, anniversary or just because they have a taste for something sweet.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It kind of took off and I had to scramble to get organized and get all of the supplies and equipment I needed. Things are smoothing out now and I’m getting into a rhythm.

If the cake is shipped as a gift, we send a handwritten note with the sentiment of the sender. We also follow up with the customer after they receive the cake. We believe that “people should eat and drink and enjoy the fruits of their labor, for these are gifts from God” Ecclesiastes 3:13.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
It’s important that the customer has a great experience with the cake using their senses – smell, taste, sight and touch. I feel that providing a quality product combined with great customer service is what will continue to make Pound Cake Pleasures successful. We bake LOVE into every cake. From the classic Sour Cream to the decadent Chocolate Ganache, we are Spreading Love by the Pound!
