Rising Stars: Meet Q P

Today we’d like to introduce you to Q P.

Hi Q, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started off with nothing but a vision and the wherewithal to take the risk to make it happen. I’ve been doing music for about four years now serious and I’ve always had a passion for clothes a style in general; I believe myself to be a man of renaissance in motion to create my own throughout my section. As a kid and even to this day I always kept a notebook that I use to sketch different ideas or just to write out a map to what I want in the future. In taking my art serious I took the advice from a few wise friends that I needed to take things to a new level and become more than an artist with a business but treat my art as a business itself. With my artist’s name being QP. WorldWide and aesthetic of: Expansion, Connections and Growth playing a major role. I found the name WorldWide Monopoly quite fitting for my business. With the shift in mindset and honing in of Ideas I began to create my brand to what it is today. I started off just making different items here and there for videos: pressing up my logo on different shirts; getting different variation of my logo made for marketing purposes etc.

At first, I didn’t really have a thought about selling the items. I just wanted to promote my brand only in my videos. But after countless compliments on the clothing and a pivotal conversation with my cousin about engaging with your audience and giving them something they could be a part of too. I knew my next step was to fully dive into the world of merch. My first item for sale was a branded Bic lighter with my logo printed on the side. They sold out pretty fast. and from there it was time to fully dive in an create a full product line that would later become a subset for the umbrella which is WorldWide Monopoly. During that phase of creation birthed Wealth A WorldWide Company; where all my love a passion for fashion finds its strong hold to grow a manifest. My first release from the subset Wealth was a hoodie a trucker hat combo release as the: Prototype Collection| being that it was the first of its kind. I am now on my third collection with a few notable names such as: DJ Scream, Fly Guy DC, Nephew Texas Boy , Prod. Mr. Hanky and Lotto Savage all sporting the brand throughout the city.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t always been a smooth process. I’ve had countless step backs along the way. Issues with vendors, trying out different products to find one up to par, and my biggest issue has probably been finding the right people to do business with. When I first began making t-shirt and hoodies I went through at-least three different business to help create my merch (Stitch, press, etc.) An after the trial and error of finding the proper people to work with. I released my first collection with my last 700 I had to my name in hopes that it would bring back more so I could pay my rent that month.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I see myself as a young mogul in the making, I make music and I create one of a kind streetwear pieces. I am most proud of the way my brand embodies my passions. I specialize in making real music that creates musical cinematography that is pleasing to ears when listening but deep enough you’ll rewind the song just to make sure you digested everything. I breath my passion into my designs and I pride myself on being like no one but myself. Not finding my way of where I might fit but constructing where I see myself and moving in the way I see fit for me and mines.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
I feel you should align yourself with people who are close to you in level as well as individuals that are far more advanced than you. I feel you need a connection with people closer to you in level to keep you current and fresh so you see all aspects from someone striving just as you are. This networking process I would say works best when creating (songs, designs etc.)or coming up with good marketing strategies on how to reach your audience. if I had to give some examples.

I feel you should have a connection with someone more advanced because it keeps you on your toes. And for myself it always leaves me feeling like I’ve been sharpened. I come to the people who are more advanced in a subject matter to keep me on my toes and give me a view of what I strive to be while at the same time showing me an easier way to obtain something that they have already accomplished. I feel having that balance of wisdoms mixed with fresh insight will keep you well rounded for whatever your trying to achieve
