Today we’d like to introduce you to Derek Jefferson.
Hi Derek, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My name is Derek, aka Homeboy Homeboy, a real-life superhero. I’ve been making comics since 2018 and the Homeless Homeboy series consists of three books so far. Apart from selling books, I also dress up as Homeless Homeboy and attend different events and I also feed the homeless. I feel like being a leader starts with setting an example.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Most of the struggles come from funding, but for the most part, it’s been smooth and most importantly, it’s been a lesson and I’ve learned they success takes research in your niche and you are never done improving.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I sell comic books in which I write, and I have a team of Nigerian illustrators who draws them for me. I think my approach and my different promotion techniques set me apart from others. I’ve learned a lot, but I’m constantly learning from the more experienced.
How do you think about luck?
I don’t believe in luck; I believe in good and bad karma. You can never go wrong if you are always true and real with yourself and others and try to help others as much as you can. The same energy will forever support and surround you.
