Today we’d like to introduce you to Ryann Dickerson.
Hi Ryann, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
About two years ago, God put it on my heart and mind that I was going to start a clothing boutique. At first, I didn’t really know where to start, nor what to do… but there’s a quote that says, “The key to success is to start before you are ready.” I knew then that God was giving me a vision. On May 14th, 2019, I decided to step out on a leap of faith and launch SHOPRYANNLYNDSEY. My passion for fashion and entrepreneurship is what led me there. Since I was younger, I have always had a love for entrepreneurship and would start little random businesses. Big shoutout to my mom for forever being my role model and the biggest boss woman I know, with multiple side businesses on top of her everyday job. She is truly my inspiration and has shown me that I, too, can do whatever I put my mind to. In addition to that, I would always find myself enjoying dressing up and taking pics which led my friends to always ask me to style them for an event or even if they just wanted to take pictures. I knew then that God was giving me a vision. A vision that reflected my passion and my love for fashion and entrepreneurship. When passion meets purpose, amazing things can happen. Here I am, two years later, learning and growing, praying for the continued success and growth of my business and the woman I’m becoming. With a lot of faith and consistency, my business continues to grow tremendously and I am super excited for what’s to come.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
This journey has definitely been filled with it’s high and lows but that is all a part of entrepreneurship, especially when it comes to selling. On some days, you might experience a high volume amount of orders and then another day, you might not receive many at all. However, the most important thing throughout this whole entire journey is consistency. Something I tell anyone who tells me they want to start a business is that something that will separate them from anyone else is remaining consistent. We see so many people start but they never finish. Also, since I started and still till this day, I have done everything by myself from social media management, finances, and actually fulfilling orders. This can become overwhelming but I always remind myself of the quotes ” I can’t complain about having a lot on my plate when my goal was to eat” as well as ” To whom much is given, much is required.” This journey is all trial and error and learning what works and what simply doesn’t. I am always finding ways to obtain more knowledge in this area to make my business better as well as create a great customer experience for buyers.

As the owner, I put a lot of time and dedication into SRL. I model majority of the company’s clothes as well as spend long hours on specific marketing strategies, website development, customer service, and ensuring that everyone order is fulfilled “with love.”
How do you think about luck?
I think luck has played a major role in my life as well as my business. However, instead of luck, I prefer to say I’m blessed and because I am so blessed, God always makes things fall into place not on my timing but His. I keep that thought with me everyday and it reminds me that no matter the amount of sales or support, I continue to strive to make my company that best that it possibly can be. This mindset, luck, and my faith of a mustard seed has created unimaginable opportunities for me and has helped me maintain and thrive. This “lucky” feeling drives me to be more creative and chase my goals day after day. In a way, I have created my own sense of “luck” by working hard and putting in the time and effort and with that, the results always come. A quote I have always loved since I was younger as an athlete was, “Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard.”
