Today we’d like to introduce you to Xavier Thompson.
Hi Xavier, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My interest in photography started at a young age using a Polaroid camera. It wasn’t until my Junior year in high school that I started taking photography seriously. During this time, I was capturing photos for our school’s yearbook, friends, and family. Photography will always be a way for me to connect with others, and most importantly, with myself. Photography has provided me an avenue to express what I’m thinking and feeling to the world.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, my journey thus far hasn’t been smooth, but I wouldn’t change it for anything in the world. My challenges, opportunities, and experiences have shaped me into the person and photographer I am today. I have discovered the road may not always be as smooth as I would like. I always rely on my faith in God, remember my “why,” and remain focused on my goal. I constantly reflect on what lessons were learned and how I can grow to become a better person and photographer.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My photography business, TylerXVisulaz, is focused on commercial photography, including fashion, products, portraits, and landscapes. I’m always willing to collaborate in other areas of photography, as well. I love taking portraits of people. It affords me an opportunity to connect with people on a personal level. Even though there are many talented photographers in Atlanta, I feel there are many things that set me apart from other photographers. I can look at something or someone and find many different ways to produce beautiful and meaningful photos. Over the past few years, I have sharpened my eye for detail to ensure the lighting, composition, emotion, and story for each image provide the desired message or feeling. During the post-production editing phase, I can produce images that reflect my creative style, enhance the details of an image, color saturation, brightness, and contrast. Lastly, I’m a great listener, patient, flexible, and passionate with all my clients.
How do you define success?
In my personal and professional life, I have defined my accomplishments by meeting my goals, living a healthy and happy life. As a photographer, I believe that my success greatly depends on my ability to produce high-quality content for my clients. Creating unique content that pleases my clients is what motivates me to strive for greatness! As I have heard several times, success is earned; it’s not given! Never see a challenging situation as a problem; see it as a possibility to learn and grow as an artist!
