Life & Work with Camri Copeland

Today we’d like to introduce you to Camri Copeland.

Hi Camri, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My story is just beginning. I’ve always had a dream, a dream to be a star, but I haven’t had much direction. Everyone would always tell me to network, network, network, but I suffer from social anxiety. I am currently working on my confidence through modeling. Modeling has allowed me to show people who I really am and all that’s in this one package. I myself picked up a camera back in 2018 to practice taking my own headshots. Over time I have became a respected photographer in the Atlanta area. The end goal is to become a respected actress nationwide. I’ve always had that vision and every time I’ve tried walking away from it, it pulls me back. I am Camri like the car, the star that’s finding her light.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has been far from smooth. I started acting when I was really young. I believe I was ten years old. My parent’s had no idea what was going on so if they saw people in the mall looking for talent, they’d sign me up. My first “acting” experience was taking classes at John Casablancas Modeling and Career Center. That’s where I learned what a monologue was. I believe my next endeavor was signing up on Explore Talent when I was probably 12 or so. I’d go to some auditions, but I was not sure what I was doing at all. School and sports became my main focus for a while, and I let the dream slip through the cracks. I picked back up my junior year in college.

My first extra gig was on Halt and Catch Fire. I thought I was big time! I became addicted to being on set and it consumed most of my free time. No one told me that this wasn’t the best look on a resume. After graduation in 2016, I had bills to pay. I had to walk in the other direction from my dream and my light slowly faded. For the past five years, I’ve felt incomplete. I finally discovered what it was, and now I’m back and I won’t give up this time. I am a working actress, When I say this, I mean full-time job and submitting for auditions lol. I will work 10x as hard as the next person. I’m getting more comfortable networking and walking through doors I never knew were open to me.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?Have you ever known someone that wanted to be great at everything? Yeah, that’s me, and that is what sets me apart from others. I’ve always had the desire to master many things and I’ve committed to several things such as drawing, ballet, taekwondo, basketball, danceline, learning ASL, photography, modeling, and acting. I’m currently mostly known for my photography. I book sessions throughout Georgia for just about anything. It may be an engagement shoot, graduation, lifestyle, birthday, etc. I’m proud of my creative vision and how I pull ideas out of my head and put them on camera. Being behind the camera also helps me be in front of the camera. I am also proud of my growth and how my confidence has developed over time. I must say being behind the camera is more my speciality as it gives me more power over achieving the vision.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
My advice would be to study your craft. Know the ins and outs, the dos and don’ts. Don’t just guess at it and hope things fall into place, as that is what causes a lot of wasted time. If you feel it in you, it’s in you. Believe that you can accomplish whatever you put your mind to. If they can do it, you can do it.
