Check Out Isaac Walker’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Isaac Walker.

Hi Isaac, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
After serving almost ten years in the world’s finest Navy and receiving my culinary degree from Stratford University, I decided to become a proctor and instructor for a small company teaching ServSafe! Helping businesses get their employees qualified and to run more efficiently. I then started prepping food to help increase the health of the community. One day my cousin Jen tasked me to create her some meals that would be healthy, great flavor and could be eaten on the go. And one of my old shipmates knew a friend who was looking for a chef to feature in a new series. Seeing how good my food was looking to him, he gave him my name. The guy with the series was none other than Josh King. He put me in a series with Jacques and Zonnique. As I continued my training of fine dining, the rest became history.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been easy but well worth it. The consistency of the private chef world is not always peaches and cream. Having to be organized is key. Newtons law is always in effect. I had to learn patience and flexibility. Especially when working with celebrities, things can change at the drop of a dime. It’s a constant grind. Continuing to press forward and believing in what God has blessed me with has given me all I need.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am an in-home private chef, meaning I come to the comfort of your home and create a five-star quality meal just for and your guest. Having experienced cuisines from all across the world, my specialty is satisfying you and your guests. My chicken and waffle is a hit, I must say. Everybody try to remix the waffle… I went for the chicken. It is a chicken called kaarage (Japanese fried chicken), delicious. I am most proud of how much I have learned and shared with my community, family, and friends. I have grandma’s soul, university knowledge and the hands blessed my God himself 😆.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
Mama and Grandma- showing me what cooking is all about. Senior Chief Luna (US Navy)- introducing me to fine dining. CS1 Murry (US Navy)- taking me under his wing and showing me how the kitchen work.

Senior Chief Chris Bramlett (US Navy)- longtime mentor and friend, when I first joined and got into trouble, he explained to me, “We work hard but play harder,” meaning if you want to have fun, you gotta put the work in first.

Josh King- introducing me to the entertainment business. Jasmin Robinson- lawyer (JasTalksLaw). Jennifer Rogers(IScanU)- passed the torch down and blessed me in the process.

These are key people in my pivot but not to leave out anyone. My family, friends, shipmates, and strangers have all encouraged me on this journey. I can’t forget my kids who remind me that they want MORE (LOL) and better just like me, so I can’t afford to quit.
