Today we’d like to introduce you to Mo Adams.
Mo, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’m Mo, also known as GottaKnowMo, and I’m originally from the westside of Chicago, Illinois; born and raised. I am a natural-born creator and entertainer. My skills consists of Songwriting, rapping, and singing.
I gravitated towards music at the age of two years old. My Mom was my inspo, who sang effortlessly, and believe it or not, I started off singing before I ever chose to song write or rap, primarily. My Mom said I always been a lover of music, singing and jamming to mostly rnb and soul. Some of my favorite artists of all time are Michael Jackson, Lauran Hill & Mary J. Blige.
I made the conscious decision to move to ATL in 2016, after being featured on B.E.T’s One Shot, Season 1, episode 4.
It took a lot of courage to leave Chicago and start off a new journey somewhere where I hadn’t known many people.
Once in town, I wanted to get familiar with Georgia and see what venues they had to offer. Dancing is something I did regularly. When I’d go to venues, to scope the places, I would dance all around and people would record and post me on their social media. This simply explains why when I started to promote myself, after about 6months residing in Atl, as a music artist, many were under the impression I was a dancer from Chicago lol. It’s definitely my therapy though and Chicago is pretty well known for some great dancers.
Moving forward, I started to perform at some of ATLs biggest events and nightclubs. All ranging from, The Bronners Bros hair show to the Historic Apache Café. I created a buzz instantly. I also worked with now multi-platinum producer @YBLoso who tracks I will be finally releasing before the year is out.
Three years after moving to GA, I was offered a record deal with a major label but I decided to remain an independent artist, as well as lean more towards Songwriting. As I closed out 2020 moving along into 2021, I began to write songs for upcoming buzzing indie artists, such as @FreshieOfficial, @YoungKeud773 and @TKO100 just to name a few. I also have many new projects up my sleeve as I venture off even more into the entertainment world.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a published songwriter who’s also known for my lyrical ability. I have music on Major Platforms that I’m featured on such as Hydroplane with rapper/producer Dre Brizo.
I’m an original with an old soul. The type of music I love to make tells stories and gives dope vibes. I don’t like to be predictable when I write. I like to switch it up but still stick to the concept if you know what I mean.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I see myself writing major hits for some of the top upcoming indie artists, as well as top industry artists.
I would love to see more life, and dope vibes in todays music. A lot of the hip hop and rnb songs I hear today are depressing as hell. Its like a lot of todays music encourages promiscuity, death, heartbreak, depression, like geesh! Growing up music was more fun. The music then made me want to do music in the first place. Music artists today, such as, Chance The Rapper and Ari Lennox give me hope actually.
