Today we’d like to introduce you to Brea Kerra Parker.
Hi Brea, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started GVONT May 2019. My mom who passed of ovarian cancer… she died cancer-free. I was always into clothes since a lil girl. But I put that fashion life on hold to be a forklift operator for ten years. Losing my mom was so hard she was my best friend, my everything so I was so lost I didn’t know what to do till she came to me in a dream. To start my clothing line. She told me to live my life, so I never knew what I wanted to call my line till it hit me.. I have always been big on good energies and I feel like if someone around you doesn’t mean you any good cut all ties with them.
I created good vibes or not ties (GVONT) was born lol. I do everything in-house from print to press. To put the decals on the cars… I’m a one-woman show. It start I was only doing my line, but then I got into customs and my business got a lil bigger!! I have done even custom bandana shoes for young dro. (I was so scared lol) he told me where my errors were, and since then I been going hard. Then I start doing stuff for this car club LBR (lazy Boi racing) and it took off from there. They are one of my biggest customers. I believe in not only wear my line but rock your brand you make your brand. I don’t know how to do anything basic… even a r.i.p shirt I make with love and full of life. I never think I would find something I love so much. I finally found my thing. I was able to quit the warehouse of a leap of faith and never looked back, and I’m so thankful for my business and just trying continue to make my mom proud in life and in death. And remain humble.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Yes it’s a lot!! From doing everything by yourself. When you think you need to go back to work or Lyft more to get inventory, or you not sure what to charge cause you don’t wanna be too high but you want to make a profit… it’s so much to think about.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m known for vinyl lol. I put vinyl on everything but for my brand… for customizing outfits for new shoes that drop. I think because I don’t do anything basic and all my outfits are made to order, nothing is alike.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
My sister Toya hill for standing by me and lifting me up since my mom passed. My love Don Patrick… for pushing me when I want to quit every time it gets hard. My girls who stay buying from me from the beginning Gi Kelz Crystal ketah Scooby (my brand Ambassadors I love them. My car family no chill chad, LBR AND 1slowss thank y’all for showing me major love and sharing and support and my cousin Hatisha who help me with everything. I have a solid GVONT team behind me.
