Today we’d like to introduce you to Corey Laramore.
Hi Corey, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started my production company as a way to provide other filmmakers and actors opportunities in roles and positions that weren’t available. For a lot of people, the pandemic created setbacks but honestly, for me, it pushed everything that was on my to do list forward. Due to the availability of a lot of people, I created connections with businesses and other actors in the industry, in addition to fully creating my production business, which led to the creation of the directorial debuted short film “A Worthy Punishment” which is available on Amazon Prime, YouTube and Apple TV. I also created my first song as a recording artist that you can find on Itunes/Apple Music/Spotify called “No More” under the artist JAMOR. I currently live between Jersey and Georgia from time to time due to the work I receive from acting however, now that my company has begun to branch out, I have been able to expand to different areas around the country.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There were struggles, of course, I feel that as an entrepreneur struggling is a part of the process. For me, the struggle came in doing the jobs of 5-8 people as one person when I was filming my short film and having the knowledge of each area. From pre-production to the official release of my short film, I mostly did every part of that process. For instance, finding the actors, the location, the documents needed for the location, the insurance, the budget, all of that was on me to have the knowledge of and that’s only preproduction. Don’t get me wrong, I had a little help with a mentor of mine, Craig Nelson, who was more of an overseer of the project but not too much involved due to his schedule. He provided helpful insight with going over ideas I could do and options that I might have available but even with that a lot of my time was spent in research and learning.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Personally, my profession is acting, although I do specialize in video editing and directing. I have acted professionally over the last two years and so far I have been background on countless movies and shows and recently booked a Co-star role on a show on HULU. I currently study at Identity School of Acting in London, which has been home to other famous actors such as Malachi Kirby, Damson Idris, Letitcia Wright, etc. I believe what sets me apart is my determination to be the greatest and to create greatness when I act. Where most stop, I try to go farther than I did prior and only improve every time I step on the stage or in front of the camera.
How do you define success?
Success is achieving the improvements you set out to accomplish in any area.
