Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Holmes.
Hi Tiffany, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My business was originally a gift basket business I started in 2014 called Beyond Compare Baskets. I created one-of-a-kind gift baskets, gift tags, party favors, and so much more. If there was a special event, there was a basket to be made. Over time I realized I wanted to be able to sell items beyond gift baskets. Of course, everyone knew I created gift baskets, but I wanted more—I wanted to do something different. In 2017, I decided that I would start a business around one of my favorite accessories…my pearls. I wear my pearls all the time. It is my opinion there is no occasion where pearls would not befitting. I started thinking of ways I could show my adoration for pearls beyond wearing a simple yet elegant strand. I began to search for items that were a celebration of pearls. In essence, pearl-inspired gifts. I decided I would make the investment in myself and step out on faith and hand-select items I loved and those I thought my customers would love. I decided to change my business name to Polished Pearl Events.
At the time, it was so hard for me to break away from doing gift baskets, favors, etc. I felt the need to still incorporate that side of the business in the name, hence the events side of things. It wasn’t too long before I decided to go with my heart and my passion and listen to the inner voice inside of me and rename my business Polished Pearl Boutique. Just like that, Polished Pearl Boutique was born. However, that was just the beginning. By 2018 I had purchased so many items to sell in my store. I created an online website that I worked on for years but never launched. After many prayers and hearing that voice from God letting me know it was time, I officially started to plan the launch of my online store, Polished Pearl Boutique, for May 5, 2021. Four years since my original thought to start a business around pearls. So here I am today— very thankful, blessed and successful. I am a work in progress. I am learning so much every day. I’m always searching for new products to sell. Always looking to outdo what I previously did in the short period of time I’ve been officially open.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I can honestly say so far so good. I haven’t encountered any struggles yet, but I welcome them. Struggles may you stronger. It’s a part of the process. It’s a part of the success.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My boutique is a celebration of pearls, so to speak. On my site, I reference that Pearls are a symbol of great beauty and purity—both timeless and contemporary. This naturally stunning gem will forever be a jewelry box classic. We have found ways to love pearls beyond the traditional strand. I absolutely adore pearls. Polished Pearl Boutique offers our love and adoration of pearls through our thoughtful selection of products and careful attention to detail. We’ve all heard that pearls go with everything, and we strongly believe so. Pearls are timeless, sophisticated and whether dressed up or dressed down, they make a personal style statement all their own. We love that our style is synonymous with grace and beauty. Classy, elegant and well… Polished!

Just a little bit of advice for anyone thinking about starting a business or pursuing any dream. Never give up on your dreams—no matter how long they take. Be patient. Trust the process.
