Life & Work with Kamran Shaikh

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kamran Shaikh.

Hi Kamran, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Graduated from NYU with a Masters in Management of Tech. I was a satellite communications engineer. Got laid off at the 2009 recession and studied to be a Business Analyst. Started working for Deloitte and Tousche and I was recruited to be in Captain America Civil War for a small part. I loved the experience so much that I asked about agencies. Aligned Stars picked me up and I’ve been booking solid since then. My first project was Ozark and my latest is OuterBanks. I’m very blessed to have achieved so much in 3 years.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I’ve heard a ton of struggles in this industry but thank god I’ve been fortunate enough to have smooth sailing, as far as bookings go. Obviously, there’s been a lot of dry spells, but again for 3 years in the industry and now only booking guest star roles finally is more than I can expect or ask for.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
So my daily job is that I’m a director of marketing at American Elevator of Atlanta. So I manage the daily sales aspect of the company. So when I get a booking it’s so awesome that I get to leave my daily life and head off to be a “star”. (So to speak). I love staying active in sports and fitness. I get up at 6am and play racquetball almost every morning before I work out. Then head off to work. I think what sets me apart is that I don’t make the “I don’t have time” excuse. If it means improving my health, wealth and especially knowledge I will make time, Oh and of course my family comes before everything else. 5 kids and a wife.

How do you define success?
I define success by happiness. I know that sounds cliché but it is absolutely true. If you’re not happy whether you’re making money or not how could that possibly mean success? As long as my family is happy and content, I’m successful
