Today we’d like to introduce you to Jabarri Bradley.
Hi Jabarri, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started singing in church like I feel most singers do. I grew up in a Church of Christ, where we didn’t have instruments. We were taught that the only instrument you need is your voice. In the 4th grade, I heard Usher Confession album for the first time. I just remember saying, I’m going to make good music one day. Usher is the reason I started writing songs tbh. Fast forward to high school. I met my bro Qhen in art class and he asked me do I sing and I was like a little bit. I recorded my first song ever in 2009. A year later, I joined a high school group and we traveled and performed around my city and Florida for about two years.
After graduating high school, I moved to Atlanta and enrolled in college at The Art of Institute of Atlanta for Audio Production. That’s when I feel my love for music elevated. I continued to record with engineers and met some very talented friends that are now like family. One was my brother AaronMac. He was the first producer to ever create production from scratch with the thought of me. We were roommates and had a studio in the dorm. Back then, I only thought of being a singer/songwriter and an artist but with meeting AaronMac, Eravani & Quick, I started understanding the importance of Engineering. Now I engineer mostly all of my music and about 15+ other artists. I just like creating and being apart of the process of good feeling music. I’m still an artist/singer/songwriter but I can say engineering as elevated my creativity.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely wasn’t a smooth road. It was multiple life obstacles such as getting evicted out my first apartment, sleeping in my car a lot of nights. Sometimes so I wouldn’t be late for work when I stayed in near the Dome and worked in Dunwoody/Sandy Springs. I had a bad problem with doubting myself and my works because I listened to others downplay me as an artist.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a Recording Artist, Singer/Songwriter, and Audio Engineer. I specialize in creating hooks, melodies, harmonies, and background ear candy. I’m known as #YourGfFavoriteEngineer!
I’m most proud of myself for stepping up and being that Engineer in my city that was missing. To truly care for the music, quality over quantity and really sticking by that! I’m also proud of my album I released on Valentine’s Day of 2021 called “Love, Barri”. The records on that project is some of my best work and the fans love the body of work!
What sets me apart from others is I understand roles in a team. I’m okay with being the lead scorer, the Artist but I enjoy being the facilitator and assisting as the Engineer with records for artists that can’t find an Engineer that truly believes in their works.
How do you think about luck?
I understand good and bad luck. Your going to always get the good and then some bad after. I really don’t focus to much on luck because I feel God put me here and has a lot in store for me. You can look at that as good luck, I’m just thankful to be here and to do what I love to do. I have to give him his glory!
