Nicole, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
HeartofNicole LLC started as a yearn to get back to my creative side while tying in our family farm business. I was already making these products for my family and had the idea to branch out and share them with the community. Being the wife and daughter of an entrepreneur was already the fire needed. It just had to be lit. I have a passion for wellness and being more holistic as I’ve gotten older. My products are one result of this. I currently make body butters and a diaper butter I’ve specifically crafted for my 9-month-old son, which seems to be magic for his sensitive skin. He is and continues to be the inspiration for HeartofNicole LLC.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The entrepreneurial road is not an easy one. The very first challenge I had was myself, getting out of my own way and starting. HeartofNicole LLC had been brewing in my mind for years before its launch, and it was because of myself. I challenged myself at the start of this year to launch, and I am so glad I did. I still have my full-time job while also being a budding entrepreneur. Add in all the other responsibilities of life, and you can guess balance is the obstacle I face on a day-to-day basis. What has helped is having specific days I dedicate to certain parts of HeartofNicole LLC. I learned and tackled this in the very beginning of HeartofNicole LLC and it is much easier. The entrepreneurial road continues to be full of its obstacles, but it is oh so rewarding and the answer to a prayer I asked God long ago.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
While professionally, I have the privilege of evaluating and having a say in what happens with our children in foster care by day, on nights and weekends. It’s all about HeartofNicole LLC. My products are handmade, and I put my heart into each product made for my customers. What sets me apart is I’m someone who uses love with everything I make and touch. It’s more than just making money or side hustle for me. It’s the satisfaction I get from creating. I am most proud of my life’s greatest work, my 9-month-old son. He continues to keep me going on most days I want to throw the towel in and the constant reminder of HeartofNicole LLC’s existence.
We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
The most important lesson I’ve learned from the COVID-19 crisis is: Tomorrow is not promised. The idea, business, or clothing line you want to start, you need to go for it while you’re still here or you’ll be robbing yourself of your greatest potential.
