Today we’d like to introduce you to Josh Rhett Noble.
Hi Josh, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Josh Rhett Noble: SAG-AFTRA/AEA, TV/Stage/Film/Voice Actor
I was born in Atlanta and raised just outside in the small West Georgia town of Tallapoosa. Ever since I was a child, all I ever wanted to do was perform. The ability to make others laugh, feel…to escape their everyday lives has always driven me.
I studied musical theatre and film at the University of Miami before moving to New York City. I was blessed to perform there and all across the country for many many years. To this day, I love the thrill of performing live in front of an audience. There’s nothing like sharing that energy and experience in real-time with others.
When my beautiful Mother was diagnosed with cancer for a 3rd time, I was put into a position where I needed to stay put out of necessity as her caregiver. This shifted my focus from theatre to on-camera work. The last several years of my career have been a whirlwind of new opportunities and a new found love for TV, Film and Voiceover work.
I unfortunately have now lost both of my parents, my greatest supporters, to cancer. They never understood how I could choose such an unstable path. But, the joy they felt watching me pursue my dream far outweighed any fear of instability. I continue on in their honor and am thrilled to be back home in Atlanta in a thriving arts community.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
This industry can be a truly difficult one to navigate even in regular times. Covid caused a true collapse…with things thankfully starting to stir again. It’s hard to keep the faith at times. So much of this rollercoaster is “right place, right time” – talent can only get you so far. Your work ethic, ability to grow and adapt and the support of others is all key. I’ve never been one to settle, always striving to better myself on screen, on stage and in real life. However, I wouldn’t be anywhere without those who have believed in me. All it takes is ONE person to truly make a difference in your life. Do you have a friend in a show? Try and go support them. Can’t afford tickets? Share their promo info. Have a colleague who has a new film/TV show/demo reel/YouTube song? WATCH THEM. A simple click takes ONE second and drives someone’s exposure. Like it or not, we live in a social media-driven world. Acting is not a career path for the faint of heart…but, it’s what makes me…ME.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m pretty sure I was a performer the moment I popped into this world. Once I figured out I could help other people escape their everyday struggles, I. WAS. HOOKED. I truly had no inhibitions as a child, always eager to tell a joke, sing or even dance on the table of my late parent’s local restaurant. (Looking back, I assume the traveling truck drivers wondered what on earth this little “towheaded” child was doing singing along to “Walk Like an Egyptian” at the top of his lungs.) Luckily, my parents encouraged my love of the arts which led me to pursuing it full-time.
I am probably best known in the theatre world for playing “Gaston” in DISNEY’S BEAUTY & THE BEAST in various professional theatres across the country. Most recently, I had the pleasure of returning to one of my favorite roles, “Captain von Trapp”, in the SOUND OF MUSIC at the StarStruck Theatre in Florida. (Right before the pandemic hit.)
The past several years have landed me in the TV/Film/Voiceover realm of the industry. Recent credits include “Officer Bobby Johnson” in LAW & ORDER: SVU (directed by Fred Berner), “Jared” in the feature film THIS IS THE YEAR produced by Selena Gomez and directed by David Henrie (WIZARDS OF WAVERLY PLACE), as well as other various guest star roles in television (including stints in I’D KILL FOR YOU and the Jay-Z produced TIME: THE KALIEF BROWDER STORY). I also had a blast providing voice and motion capture for the Rockstar produced video game RED DEAD REDEMPTION II.
Most recently, I wrapped shooting a supporting role in the new feature film THE WRONG PLACE starring Bruce Willis that’s slated to premiere summer of 2022.
The irony is…I feel the most like “me” portraying someone else. It’s as if delving into another person’s story shines a light on every aspect that was suppressed. I am my happiest acting, and I feel truly blessed to do what I do.
