Today we’d like to introduce you to Justin Colbert.
Hi Justin, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I got into photography back in 2018 through a friend of mine who was a photographer. He showed me some basic photography skills and even lend me his camera so I could try to learn on my own and see if it was right for me. I was doing photography off and on but never really consistent.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Over my photography journey, I have ran into some obstacles, such as equipment breaking, not understanding certain things, or even struggling to come up with new or original ideas.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
So I am mainly known as a photographer, but I hope to change that soon. I have been trying to get into videography, filming, and even podcasting. I hope to someday be able to be a part of the creation of a film. Being able to be hands on in the creation of a film and watching it come to life is the ultimate goal. Out of all the accomplishments on my goal list I have completed so far, the thing I could be proud of the most is the fact that I have an amazing support group behind me. From family to friends everyone is involved.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
I’ve had one mentor along the way, Mr. Kyle. He is a veteran in the photography world and has shown me tips and tricks along the way helping me when I needed. I have many talented friends who I look at as my brothers, they are fashion designers. If you have an idea best believe they can make it for you. I have been able to add to my portfolio for a couple of years now because of the work they do that I get to capture. This was definitely a major part in me staying so consistent with taking pictures.
