Today we’d like to introduce you to Aaliyah David.
Hi Aaliyah, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
17…& 17 being my golden age (birthed the 17th of September), and the age I found my gift. 17 is such an awkward year. So awkward, I was still & uncomfortable figuring out what I was going to do after high school. I did sports, but I really didn’t see a future in that. I baked brownies & cakes, but how long could that keep up till you get robbed for your coins? (yes, it happened). My school had a program called CCI, like duel enrollment, and I took Cosmetology over at West Georgia Technical College. This totally separated me from my class my last year of high school, which wasn’t much of a burden at all, I was able to really focus. Doing hair, or really anything beauty-related really satisfied me in numerous of ways. I was born an artist, but some families just don’t believe in surviving off art. And so I found my art. Of course, someone always comes to try and destroy you, but I had a brain of my own and a life that only I live. I’m always searching for something new to do in life. I’m down for adventures, taking risks and dealing with consequences, and anything I did had to be in my special way. Determination, knowledge, discipline, and a deep understanding of my power is what got me to where I am today. Along with the people that supported me from day one, those are the ones you bring with you. Whether it’s one or none.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It wasn’t so smooth in the beginning because of distractions. And distractions can be anything from people to your own self. You get a lot of people and their opinions when you begin a new adventure, and it’s only because they see you actually doing and they’re not. In that case, that’s where self comes in. Self has to become rational when it comes to receiving negativity cause it’s all around us, but how are you going to cope and destroy it? Of course, times got frustrating when there were no sales or little bookings, but I’m not that one to feel discouraged. You do something about it! Switch it up a little bit, do a little more!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a hairstylist that specializes with hair extensions and hair units. I’m really known for getting down a flat, seamless wig install that doesn’t even look like a wig. (; I’m proud of myself mostly and my clients/supporters cause without them, I wouldn’t have learned from my mistakes, I wouldn’t have heard criticism, and I wouldn’t received the love that I get.
I’m my own person. I’m human, and my light and love radiate off my aura. The energy I put out in this universe is the reason I’m in the position that I’m in and the reason I’m on this path.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
What may surprise everyone is my other hobby: Pole dance! It’s funny some of my clients notice the pole in my home, others don’t. I’ve been pole dancing for going about two years now on my own time. I’ve been taking classes since 2020 and have completed over 6 level classes. It’s absolutely everything cause the gym can be boring sometimes, so this is my fun way of working out externally but also building a lot of confidence and peace internally.
