Today we’d like to introduce you to Kendra Thomas.
Hi Kendra, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I have a ten years background in fashion & hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Fashion Merchandising & Apparel Design from Georgia Southern University. I’ve always loved fashion and wanted to learn more about it and although my college journey was longer than I anticipated, I really learned a lot and met a lot of people including professors brilliant women that are active in the industry that I’m still in contact with today. Fast forward to now, I’ve been able to work in the luxury retail circuit that have connected me to so many inspiring people that have inspired me to branch out and pursue more entrepreneurial endeavors like my online store Suiteonethirtyone.com and create fashion content throughout different social media platforms @KourtesyofKT. My journey thus far has taught me that when I do “make it” I would like to uplift and inspire other women the same way I’ve been positively influenced.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not at all! It’s hard especially because I’m still up and coming. Finding what works, keeping up with the algorithm, trends, etc. is a lot of work and can really be taxing if I’m not taking care of myself mentally and really remembering why I’m doing what I’m doing because I love fashion and it makes me happy.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a fashion content creator and I share most of my content on Instagram where I post styling videos outfit photos and do a show on my Live every Monday @ 8pm called #TootitorBootit where myself, a guest and my audience judge looks with a “Toot” (good) or “Boot” (bad) from a specific category. I also have a women’s contemporary online store suiteonethirtyone.com that offers sizes XS-3XL.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
My legacy. I care about the positive impact I have on the world and those around me. I really want to make it easier for those who come after me whether it be with resources, knowledge or both.
