Check Out Sharel Marie’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sharel Marie.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My journey started back in 2014 when I originally wanted to be a runway model. In the process of that, I soon realized that being a runway model required being there for very long hours. To avoid having to do so I wanted to learn how to master the craft of doing my own makeup. After practicing and watching makeup tutorials, I eventually got it and then soon fell in love with doing make up and in 2016, I took my very first client and became a freelance makeup artist. That’s when I fell in love with makeup, taking clients and teaching others how to do it as well. I had finally found something that I was truly passionate about and that was makeup. And throughout the years, it became evident that I wanted to create my own cosmetic line and in 2019 Sharel Marie Beauty was birthed and officially launched in June 2021.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Some of the challenges I faced with starting my own cosmetic line is not knowing exactly what I wanted to add to my line and what all it takes to be a business owner. Although I still do not have all the answers, it’s definitely a learning experience every single day. Going into business for yourself requires a lot of research and it comes with a lot of tests, trials, and errors.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
One of the things I truly enjoy about being an artist and creative is that makeup is a way of self-expression and I get to learn how to do different techniques not only on myself but also on others and be able to teach them as well. Makeup is truly a craft. It’s like your face and your body is the canvas.

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
Things I’ve learned during this crisis is that the health and safety of everyone is most important especially when using items that go on your face. And because we only know so little about how this virus can be transferred, we have to handle purchases and packages with the utmost care by making sure our work area is sanitized and that gloves and masks are worn during the packing process.
