Meet Jacyn Alexis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jacyn Alexis.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Back in 2019, I was working in two shoe retail stores. I was never good with authority and I felt out of place with my team members. The way I’d show up to work and just the ambition for those jobs just weren’t there. My mind was always on what I could do for myself and by myself. At that time, I was 23 and wanting to create a business. I knew I spent most of my money on makeup & hair, so I created a hair business one day sitting in my room at my parent’s house. “Crowned By Cyn” was then created. Now, it took me three years to actually get my hair business up and going. Due to not being properly informed on how to run a business. Throughout the three years, I took time to find some reliable business people to learn from. Nowadays, I’m confident in the entrepreneurial role I have set for myself and I’m extremely proud of what I’ve grown this business into! I can’t fully accept anything without giving my late mother the proper praise, because she had multiple businesses since I was a young child and ran them with ease. I truly take after her in that aspect. Without seeing her accomplish as much as she did, I probably would’ve still been working for someone.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
No, it has been far from smooth! My main struggles with being an entrepreneur was realizing I couldn’t do everything myself. As well as finding trustworthy people to care for your brand as much as you did. I became a master with the marketing aspect of the business and totally neglected the “paperwork” side of things. That in which set me back about a year into business. Funding! Funding was also a struggle for me while trying to maintain a life as a young adult. Understanding working 9-5 and saving to invest back into your business.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’ve always been a creative individual. Before any of my businesses, I was a model, makeup artist and did my own hair all the time. Presentation was the most important thing to me. What caught people’s eyes? I have tattoos, piercing, dress in urban streetwear and I’ve had the crazy hairstyles. All those things are self-expression, which helped me out of a shy shell in my younger years. Now, I’ve successfully tied all those things into one. I model for myself, I’m able to do hair and makeup on set for my photoshoots and dress the models or myself how I want for the look I’m trying to achieve. I’ve made my work my hobby so I don’t dread anything about my business. What sets me apart from others is that I’m unable to put in a specific category. My brand welcomes all types, shapes, and sizes. I’ve created a non-judgmental aspect of my hair business. We all deserve to look and feel our most confident selves.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
