Today we’d like to introduce you to Alma Erendira Perez Rafael.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
From Hidalgo, Mexico. I’m the owner of Nage Beauty Salon located at 2293 Browns Bridge Rd, Gainesville, GA 30501. My journey began when I started Cosmetology School in 2015. I became a Master Cosmetology Licensed in December of 2016. After receiving my license, I began my hair journey in a hair salon for one year. After realizing my passion for hair, I opened my own at home studio! I balanced my family and my hair journey simultaneously for four years.
Ever since graduating, I aspired to open my own hair salon. However, there were many obstacles inhibiting my dream goal. I did not have the necessary experience, resources, and confidence in myself to truly take on the journey of opening my own salon. Then COVID hit and it made it even more difficult.
After gaining even more experience and surviving through COVID, I took the risk of opening my own salon with the help of my caring husband, family, and close friends.
My dream finally became a reality and Nage Beauty Salon was born in January of 2022! I am still learning as I go but I am very glad I finally took the biggest step in achieving my dreams.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Opening Nage Beauty Salon has not been an easy road. I needed more experience in the process of owning a salon. I did not have enough experience to run my own business and continue doing hair. I also did not have the resources to open a brand-new salon. Another obstacle that prohibited me was the confidence in myself. I didn’t have the confidence to achieve my dreams. Then COVID hit and it made it even more difficult. COVID hindered my at home studio and I couldn’t imagine my dream salon flourishing during the pandemic. So I put the idea off again.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Nage Beauty Salon is a new hair salon located at 2293 Browns Bridge Rd, Gainesville, GA 30501. We offer hair services from balayage, haircuts, perms, highlights, keratin treatment, and hair treatments. We also offer waxing, nail services, and eyebrow tinting! We specialize in women’s hair! We are a bilingual hair salon that also services the Latino community here in Gainesville! That’s what sets us apart from others. We have the ability to service those who don’t have English as their first language. We are very passionate about helping others feel beautiful! We also offer the opportunity for new hairstylists to grow within the industry. Another thing that sets us apart from other hair salons is that we attend community events! We attend pop-up events and sell hair products, merchandise and promote our hair salon to the community!
We also have two private suites available for estheticians or nail services! If this interests you please contact us as we would love to work with you and help the community as well!
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I grew up in El Dextho, Ixmiquilpan, Hidalgo, Mexico! I grew up in a very rural area so toys were never an option for me. Instead, I grew up playing with corn silk. They came in very different colors and grabbed my interest really fast. I would braid and cut these corn silks and this sparked my passion for hair!
