Today we’d like to introduce you to Autumn Marini.
Hi Autumn, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’ve lived a majority of my life in Atlanta. I have such a deep appreciation for my cities music culture, it’s one of the main influences that got me to pursue a career as a recording artist. Since I was five years old, I’ve always had a love for singing and the performing arts. Whether it was dance or playing the violin, music and I have always had a deep connection. Fast forward to now, I’m living my dream as an R&B singer on the rise to stardom. It’s taken years of hard work and dedication to get to where I’m at, along the way Atlanta’s music industry has given me great connections and countless opportunities. For that, I will always have love for my city!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
As a woman in the music industry, I’ve faced my fair share of challenges. The biggest obstacle for me was realizing that it was essential to educate myself on the business side of the industry. Many recording artists think that if they have the talent and the record deal that success will naturally follow but unfortunately that isn’t always the case. A few years back, I signed to a label that didn’t have my best interest in mind and eventually led to a dead end. Despite the setback, I took it as a learning lesson. I worked as an independent artist and hired a lawyer to make sure any future deals I signed was worth the level of talent I was bringing to the table. I realized that if you know you’re worth and your facts, you’ll be able to overcome nearly any obstacle in this industry.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m living my dream as an R&B recording artist in Atlanta. My workdays usually consist of going to the studio to have meetings, write verses and of course sing.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The entertainment industry isn’t the easiest field of work to break into so I gained a lot of wisdom throughout my career journey. One example for me was the realization that accomplishing my dreams would take a team effort, having a supportive/trustworthy work team is essential for a successful singing career. I’ve also learned that a door shut from one opportunity means that another door will soon open, just be patient and keep grinding until that next opportunity presents itself. After having a bad record deal experience, I learned that having knowledge of the business side of music and hiring a legal team is the best way to protect your image, content and general rights as an artist.
