Life & Work with Janiah Tashae

Today we’d like to introduce you to Janiah Tashae.

Hi Janiah, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Born and raised outside of Charlotte, NC (Union County) and I’ve just recently moved to Atlanta about a month ago to pursue my singer/songwriting career. I was just 12 years old when my dad took me to my first studio session. Ever since then, I’ve grown a tremendous love for music and just creating in general. Fortunately, I’ve connected to many great photographers, producers and other artists here in ATL who has helped me continue to grow that love. I’m also a freelance model, self-taught Makeup artist and content creator. Right now, I have over 1.7 million likes on TikTok and over 65 thousand followers. After graduating college (UNC-Greensboro) in 2019, I worked for Fox News as a producer, that helped me utilize my media major at the time and also helped me to improve my writing skills. This year 2022, I have a goal of writing a billboard hit for a major artist as well as grow my following so that people know who Janiah Tashae is, a dope, outgoing singer/songwriter that is open for everything creative. I also write and direct my own music and music videos. I love having creative control over my music because I feel like no one knows those true feelings like me. This year and on, I’m committed to my goals, committed to my dreams and committed to breaking those generational curses.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
This has definitely not been an easy road but the support that my parents give me makes everything worthwhile. Growing up in a very Christian household, you see how your church family and others respond to hearing you make secular music. I realize it’s difficult to hear someone say/do things that are different than what I used to do as a child but I’ve grown to embrace those changes. As a woman very passionate about her music and lyrics, it’s very important to me that my words are authentic and stay true to my story. The one thing I’ve realized on this journey is that you may not get all of the support you want but everything is intentional. God always places the right people around you even if you don’t understand why yet.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in creating melodies that are unique to the soundtrack. I’m most known for my lyricism, for creating a story that comes together so well when you hear it. I’m also most proud of making the decision to move to ATL. Atlanta has been such a great music hub. Everywhere you turn there’s another artist, producer, creative that are down to work with you. Networking and connecting are huge to making it to the next level so I’m proud of taking that step. What sets me apart from others is my drive. I’m known to hustle all day, everyday. No matter if it’s modeling, singing, doing makeup, managing a studio, serving, etc. I’m always involved in something that’s making me more money or making me more connected. When the world knows me, they’re going to know that sound. They’re going to know “that’s Janiah Tashae”.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
I am dropping another music project first week in May called “GEMINI”. It’ll be a combination of everything that describes my personality and love language. Be on the lookout! Good music coming soon!
