Today we’d like to introduce you to Melanie Wisinger.
Hi Melanie, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Well, I was a young mother obsessed with my daughter and quickly realized I took relatively good pictures and I really enjoyed it. I would work with fellow photographers as their assistant at weddings and began booking small family portraits on my own. It has taken many, many years of late nights editing and learning, gaining certifications and returning families but just as I did so many years ago, I love taking photos, capturing memories and moments individuals and families alike can look back on and cherish.
MMP is growing with passion and knowledge. My boyfriend and I run MMP simply because we really do love what we are doing.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I laughed as I was reading the question, it has definitely been a bumpy road. Taking on any kind of new experience, especially one in the arts is super overwhelming. It’s really, really easy to doubt yourself or want to go back to the easy days of simply taking a pretty picture because you had the time. Then you persist and begin to grow, get through the madness of new situations, new environments, new computer or equipment problems, crashed hard drives and many many tears, and you begin to see the overwhelming beauty in it all. You begin to see the strength in yourself, your ability to overcome and even look around to see that you are talented in your own way.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a Lifestyle Photographer, I capture families and individuals mostly outside surrounded by Georgias beauty, leaving our sessions smiling and feeling like their absolute best.
I guess what I hope to be known for is being a very down to earth photographer. Easy to vibe and laugh with during our sessions. What I enjoy most is when I send a gallery and they realize there is so much more that was taken than just several posed portraits. I snuck in the laughs or cuddles between poses. The simple handholds or thoughtful gestures do not go unnoticed. I love small details, especially when they are beautiful surprises when I send a gallery.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I believe this industry will grow leaps and bounds. It’s already rapidly changing as social media, apps and technology allow us to stretch new boundaries. It’s very exciting, as exciting as it was many years ago. I guess that’s what keeps so many of us pursuing the next cool photo location, saving for new technology or traveling far for the perfect picture.
