Today we’d like to introduce you to Ponzo Houdini.
Hi Ponzo, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I grew up in Downtown Buffalo NY. I started off in the street life early at 14. And it leads me on a path to selling drugs then to prison. I started doing music in 2006. From trials and tribulations of being in the streets, I was on Buffalo’s ten most wanted list then turned myself in to do my last sentence. After returning I continued my musical journey but this time with leaving the street life and focusing fully on music and the music business. I currently live in Atlanta and Have been grinding independently which lead me to my first hit record “Rich Lit” after 16 years of being a music artist.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I went to prison on this journey. I got divorced and went through a lot of hard times of going broke several times and time away from my kids on the road to success. I took the stairs the elevator to success was out of service. But I appreciated that work so it became second nature. I look to inspire the youth and people who are trying to pursue their dreams.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Ima a National Recording artist and label owner. I’m proud at the fact I didn’t settle for less even when I had less the time. I have released over 40 music videos via YouTube and have nine Mixtapes that had been released. I have toured with some of the top artists in the game Future, Oj da Juiceman, Benny the Butcher (Griselda), Young Thug, Gunna, Rick Ross and more. My song Rich Lit has made it in the top 150 charts on urban radio and I have received plaques for my album You Know The Vibes 2.
What were you like growing up?
I was a high honor roll student and very smart. I was always into music and performing music. When I got into high school I started hanging out in the streets and became a product of my environment and started dealing drugs and went to prison. I was on the Buffalo’s ten most wanted list. I changed my life around and started my own independent record label and pursue my music dream. I became an example that it’s not how you start it’s how you finish.
