Rising Stars: Meet Valencia Gamble

Today we’d like to introduce you to Valencia Gamble.

Valencia, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I am an actress born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. I left Baltimore after I graduated college (Towson University) with a minor in theater in 2017. But before I left I made sure to land a few acting roles in tv shows such as House of Cards and For my man. I moved to California to pursue my acting and I was casted in Todrick Halls: Hall American, Secrets Music Video Directed by Meagan Good and starring Adrienne Bailon – Houghton, I lived there for two years until Covid started. I moved back to Baltimore to be with family and in the process of waiting for it to be safe to go back to set I started my YouTube channel (Valencia Gamble). When we were able to start going on set again I picked my passion right back up and I landed a movie called Collide, and a commercial for Weight Coalition. I decided to move to Georgia I’ve only been here for four months but so far I’ve been in Tyler Perry’s Ruthless, The Color Purple Musical, BMF, Heels, ATL Homicide, Marvin Sapps Never would have made it Biopic, Nickelodeons Fantasy Football, and Innocent. I have every intention of being successful with my acting career. Not only is it a career but it is also a love and a passion. Atlanta has broken so many barriers and boundaries for my acting career and I can’t wait to see what else it has in store for me in the years to come.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it has not been a smooth road with Covid and even before Covid. While living on California, although it was pretty diverse finding roles to fit me as an average-built African-American woman was very slim. But it seemed like every time I wanted to quit, something big would happen and I’d get excited about acting again. It also hasn’t been the easiest trying to find speaking roles while not having representation. When I moved to Georgia I had a job and it was taking up all of my time and I barely had any time for my acting so I decided to quit my job and pursue my acting career because that’s how much I believe in myself and my talent.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As an actress, I specialize more in Film and Television. Even though I’ve studied theater in college and I’ve been in a couple of plays, I prefer acting for the camera. On camera, I am able to express my emotions more with my face, while in theater it’s mainly about projecting the voice and expressing emotion through the voice. I’m proud of everything that I’ve accomplished so far majority of people I told myself I would work with, I’ve worked with and that just shows that my drive and determination is on full force. What set me apart from others is I never give up. If it’s something I want I will go after it until I get it. I’m not content with my acting, I recognize that I can always learn more so I’m always trying to find ways to better myself I know I’m good but I want to be GREAT!

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
Wow, I have so many mentors that I go to for advice. And I thank each and every one of them for being there for me when I’ve had a question, needed advice and guidance. So I’d like to thank Marque Richardson, Meagan Good, Javicia Leslie, Christina Karis, and Lenny Thomas. They have all pushed me in different ways and have been a support and motivation in my acting career and in my life. My parents also deserve credit for supporting me and making sure that they help me with anything that I need whether it be connecting me with other actors, financial support, or emotional support they are in my corner 100%. My brother and my friends have also been supportive in many ways. My brother played in the NFL and even though he was in a different type of entertainment, he still gives advice and support because he knows how tough it is when you are going after your dream. I look up to him because he never stopped going after his dream and he got there with blood, sweat, tears and hard work his ambition is unmatched. My friends support me emotionally, they have definitely been there when I needed someone to talk to because I didn’t get the role or when I had a problem on set. They’ve listened to me for hours and have given me the best advice and they have supported me from the very beginning.
