Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamie Johnston. Them and their team share their story with us below:
Lindy Leather was established in 2018. However, leather craftsmanship has been passed down from generations before. Our grandfather, Paul Timmons, has been a well-known leather craftsman in Georgia for many years. He taught us his craft and we quickly fell in love with the process of creating a timeless and unique product with our own two hands. After serving in the Army for eight years, Jamie started this generational legacy. He decided to name the company after our little sister, Lindy.
All items are proudly designed and handcrafted in Lawrenceville, Georgia using real cowhide. Each and every one of our products carry the subtle nuances of our high-quality hides, making each item truly one of a kind.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Honestly, starting this business has been one of the best decisions I’ve made in my life so far. We face struggles each and every day when it comes to the business, but those challenges give me the opportunity to grow as a business owner and as a person. Starting out, it was very difficult to make the decision to focus on Lindy Leather full-time. I struggled with the idea of not having a guaranteed income. Although I fully believed in my brand, I didn’t know how the public would receive it or if they would receive it at all.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My fiance and I run this business together. We focus on creating products that we genuinely love, use, and will stand the test of time. We pride ourselves on bringing our youthful perspective to an old craft. We are well known for our personalized whiskey glasses. Since we are able to emboss our products with company logos, we specialize in corporate gifts. We also specialize in groomsmen & father’s day gifts.
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Every year my late great grandfather would take our whole family deep-sea fishing in Apalachicola. Those memories are ones I cherish & will never forget.
