Community Highlights: Meet Ty’Heim Clark of The Childcare Whisperer

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ty’Heim Clark.

Hi Ty’Heim, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am Ty’Heim Clark from Mullins, South Carolina. I moved to ATL in 2016 to help my mother get to and from her doctor’s appointments. I got a job teaching private Pre-K at Carol’s Daughter Learning Center (where my career started and I found my second mom). I stayed with them for two years and during those two years, I was promoted to Assistant Director then a certified Director. I wanted to know the corporate world of childcare so I applied and accepted an Assistant Director position with Rainbow Childcare Center (now KinderCare). During my time there I became homeless literally working with everything I owned in my car outside of the center. I was the closing Director so some nights I would iron my clothes at the center then find someplace to sleep. The next morning, I would get up and go to LA Fitness to shower and get ready for work. I met my angel, Dearick Milton and he took me in, a stranger. I got fired from KinderCare due to a situation they said I handled wrong. So, I went back to private childcare as a director but wasn’t getting what was promised to me, after producing what I said I could. I began applying for jobs again. All while trying to save and get out of my now friend’s house (snippet of the process). I applied and accepted a position with Creme’ De La Creme’ Haynes Bridge as their Director of Curriculum. The day I was supposed to start the world shut down due to COVID 19.

During this time, bills were coming and I got further behind because I had no job and it took unemployment forever to start. I tried to kill myself one night because I had never been in this place before. I literally had nothing and I was trying my hardest to bounce back. I’ve worked since I was 15 years old so this was “unbearable” for me. Now, I am a man of strong faith and it was in my moment of weakness that God’s strength was made perfect and he wouldn’t let me do it. That same night God gave me my business in a dream, services and all! I woke up and told Dearick that I was going to start a business (BROKE). I started with Creme’ in November of 2020. While there I began recording myself doing my Directorial duties and offering services to help other Directors. Branded myself as The Childcare Whisperer, The Director’s Coach. I told God that I would stay with Creme’, the best center I had ever worked for and where I became an author at, one year then I would do my business full-time. 6 months later I resigned to be a full-time entrepreneur and ever since that day, God has been showing himself mighty and strong in a BIG way!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road has been rough and lonely. Being an entrepreneur matured a side of me that was lying dormant and due to that I began to move and think differently. Causing me to evaluate EVERYTHING more. I no longer just wanted to go out and have fun just because, I wanted to build! Which caused me to attract different friends. The challenge for me has been accepting that everyone can’t go on the journey with you, some people are and were only passengers riding to their next destination. I’ve lost close family and friends on the journey but I’m determined to keep going because I’ve come too far now.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
The Childcare Whisperer, LLC is a coaching business for childcare center leaders. In addition to that, I offer staff development for teachers, classroom staging, Interim Director service, Regional Director service, a mentorship program, accountability group, and motivational speaking. My niche is that I am THE male in a female-dominated industry. And I am proud that my brand affords childcare leaders the space to be vulnerable and free while learning how to do and love their job!

What matters most to you? Why?
In as much as I know this might sound cliché and “churchy,” what matters most to me is that through it all, I want God to get the glory. He gave me the vision, the resources, and the strength to carry out the dream. Without him I am nothing!
