Meet LVLD

Today we’d like to introduce you to LVLD. Them and their team share their story with us below:

LVLD, born Elvis Obi, is a New Jersey native. His parents moved from Nigeria in the mid-1980s to start a family in America. He is the eldest of three with some of his earliest memories being dancing and singing Michael Jackson and Prince with his brother and sister. He began writing music while in attendance at Old Bridge High School where he graduated from in 2007. Majoring in Chemistry, he successfully obtained his Bachelor of Arts from Rutgers University in 2014.

In 2014, his then-girlfriend and now-wife suggested the couple move to Atlanta, GA to pursue their dreams in the entertainment industry. Although, life had other plans in mind first. In 2016 the couple had their first child, followed by their second in 2019. Through the years, LVLD continued to write and record from his home, never taking a career in music a real chance. He found it more important to ensure his family’s financial stability while his wife pursued her aspirations over following his own dreams. Building a solid resume as a full-time chemist, LVLD continued to feel unfilled. He released his first EP at the end of 2021 while he continued to battle the grief of unexpectedly losing his father to Covid-19. After encouragement and continued support from his wife, he decided to leave the world of science to pursue music. Leaving his career in 2022 to pursue music full time, he has since performed at dozens of venues throughout Atlanta and has a growing fanbase in the Atlanta indie hip-hop world. His latest single I’m Cool is an electrifying verbal animation filled with catchy lyrics, reminding his listeners to stay cool and leveled in all situations. The song is available on all streaming platforms and the video is set to premiere sometime in July 2022.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Too many to count. I try to give a peek into my life through my music so the bumps are there and have become a part of me. I would say the biggest hurdle was the first step. The first step to put myself out there and leave the life that I have created with my family. To turn my back on my mother’s dream for me and follow my own path.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I make music. I’m just happy I can finally say that to everyone I meet in person. My records are relatable and easy to understand. I blend different genres together but have a solid base in h Hip-Hop and R&B. What sets me apart is my authenticity to myself as a black man, provider, father, husband and protector. The ability to connect with audiences across demographics and nationalities by releasing music that not only gives off positive vibes but also educates and uplifts all while passing the vibe check and danceability factor.

What matters most to you?
Family, Communication, Peace.
