Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephani Britt.
Hi Stephani, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Well, StepITUp is a brand that was actually birthed through pain and soon metamorphosed into a healing component for others. I firmly believe that our experiences are lessons for us to learn but also guides for others. StepITUp is a brand that helps to cultivate the unlocked abilities of individuals and extract the roots that are blocking people from becoming they’re true, authentic, balanced selves. It is a Life Coaching brand that specializes on an Executive (Corporate) and Personal level. Throughout my 15-year career in business/finance, I often witnessed poor leadership along with ridiculous attribution within the workplace, but the sad part was watching organizations do absolutely nothing about it.
As world events (e.g. the pandemic, racism, increased suicides) enlarged everyone’s minds and exposed more injustices with the system and corporations, it forced the conversation of change to happen. However, there is just so much behavior that needs to be unlearned first. There is so much bias, privilege, and lack of diversity within upper leadership. So, in order to make change, you have to understand PEOPLE. What I’ve learned is that we are people FIRST, with feelings, emotions, traumas, insecurities, silent disabilities and the list goes on. How do we recognize and make change? My motto is this: SAVE SPACE…WORKSPACE. My coaching is designed to help organizations get to the root of the problem and help cultivate a safe space for their employees AND themselves in order to innovate and elevate a collaborative team environment. If I help people and organizations on an individual basis, collectively it will help to create more respectable environments.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Sure. The main challenge I experienced was ME. I kept getting in my own way. I allowed terrible leadership and relationships to cripple my abilities to be my authentic self. There have been many times I questioned GOD as to why He made me with such a bold mouth! I could not stand my voice and felt that every time I opened my mouth, I would be labeled as the “difficult black girl”. What I discovered was a lot of it was due to intimidation and lack of control. I was unapologetically my own person. Nothing has ever been smooth for me, but it ALL makes sense now. The reality is, I challenge the status quo. I’m bold and I don’t mind asking the tough questions, which has served me well when I finally got the opportunity as Co-Chair of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for a previous job. My boldness and extensive knowledge was not only accepted but encouraged.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Absolutely! In addition to offering Executive and Individual Coaching services, I also provide Health and Wellness Coaching. My desire is to show people how to have balance in both their personal and career lives. It all has to work together in order to create the best version of yourself.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
That’s a great question! Happiness comes from within, and everyone around me gets to be blessed with that good energy. My children and my identity in Christ make me happy. Being mentally, physically, and emotionally in a good place makes me happy. Doing what I love and being with who I love makes me happy, regardless of the activity. I now feel like I can conquer ANYTHING without boundaries. The sky’s the limit.
