Today we’d like to introduce you to Ariel Montague.
Hi Ariel, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My parents immigrated to Miami from Jamaica. After I was born, they moved to Atlanta. I was raised in Georgia. I graduated from Collins Hill High School and attended Georgia State University while I worked in the hospitality industry.
I’ve always been very goal-oriented and driven. In 2018, I received my real estate license in Georgia and the following year, I relocated to Louisiana and received my license there as well. I practiced in New Orleans for two years while finishing my degree at Louisiana Tech University.
During the pandemic I created Wethriv. Wethriv is an organization that provides women with a space where they can work together to thrive. In just a few months, our network grew rapidly from a couple of hundred followers on Instagram to over 25,000.
When I graduated with my bachelor’s degree in finance in 2021, I decided to continue charting a path helping others through real estate. Guiding my clients through some of the biggest decisions in their lives allows me to do just that. I currently practice real estate in Louisiana, and I recently expanded my business in Atlanta. I plan on venturing into more real estate markets in the future.
We all face challenges but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Nothing in life that is worth having is easy to get. Every challenge in my life was necessary for me to become the woman that I am today. From a young age I had my career planned out. In my first two years of college, I struggled to determine if the path I was on was right for me.
Then I discovered how powerful real estate was. A few months after I started studying for my real estate license in Georgia, I found out my boyfriend and I were expecting our first child. At first, we were concerned about raising a child so young while still pursuing our careers, but we made it work. Two businesses and a degree later, I can say it was all worth it.
Real estate can be tough. The odds are not in your favor. 87% of all new agents fail after five years in the industry. As I approach my fifth year, I can say that I absolutely understand why. Being a successful REALTOR requires you to wear many hats and I’m still learning every day.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Montague Realty Co.?
As a REALTOR, I provide guidance and assist my clients with selling and purchasing properties. I primarily specialize in residential real estate, but I work with commercial real estate transactions as well. Like most entrepreneurs, REALTORS have many roles. I determine my clients’ needs then propose solutions that suit them. I intermediate the negotiation processes, consult clients on market conditions, prices, mortgages, legal requirements, and any related matters.
What sets me apart from other agents is my dedication to my clients. My goal has always been to conduct my business honestly and ethically. I put love into everything that I do.
What makes you happy?
Coming from a family of immigrants, I find pleasure in the simplicities in life. You realize how good life is when you don’t live in poverty, especially when you have seen it first-hand. We take the small things in life for granted. When you see what life is like outside of the simple luxuries like running water, you appreciate them even more. Being alive makes me happy and it always will.
