Hi Sanndi, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself. Hi my name is Sandra Monzon, I’m the owner of sandi monzon. I am a traveling bridal hairstylist, educator and also the owner of an online shop for hairstylists. Here is my history of how I got started three years ago. I was sharing some of my braids and bridal hairstyles on social media and it was for me to see my improvement but a few weeks after the quarantine started on my area, I gave birth to my second daughter and without working and with no place to go with a 21-month-old and a newborn baby. I started to use some of my very short free time like when they were taking a nap or sometimes waking up early or slipping late and use that time to practice as much as I can. And been very positive, I decided to post more of my work on my Instagram, and then I started to have more people liking my posts and having big pages sharing my work. I started also not just sharing pictures but also tutorials. Two and a half years later, I’m working with brides and I have many inquiries for special events hairstyles, also working with brands and building my own online shop offering many tools for bridal hairstylists.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been very hard to start a business while having two little girls depending 100% on their mom, and also being a wife and housewife, organizing the time for doing all of these was a challenge. Also, my first language is Spanish and I’m going to say that 8 of 10 followers are English speaking so I was always very insecure of my accent, so for me, that was a challenge too.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a bridal and braid specialist. I am best known for my intricate braids. I love adding different accessories to them so I think that’s what takes people’s attention.

What are your plans for the future?
Keep working on growing my online store for a bridal hairstylist and teaching all I know for anyone that wants to grow and continuing education with me.
