Inspiring Conversations with Zain Moosa of Magnus Ventures

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zain Moosa.

Hi Zain, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Born in Karachi, Pakistan, completed my degree in Computer Science from Staffordshire University in the UK. Relocated to Dubai, United Arab Emirates after completing my studies. Lived a good decade and a half in the Middle East where I went with a one-way ticket and $100 – the $100 was to buy my ticket back if I was unable to land a job!

It was my first time out in the real world. No parents around, no friends, and no business contacts. I was fortunate enough to find a job – started working at a home maintenance company as an operations executive. At those times, IT graduates in the UAE could be found as dime a dozen.

I switched a couple of jobs but remained in the same line of work – property maintenance, construction, and home renovations.

In 2017, I quit my job and become an entrepreneur. Started a boutique digital agency, Magnus Technologies, and have done that since then.

Once again made a move in 2021 – this time to Atlanta, Georgia. Magnus Ventures, our parent company is now present in Karachi, Dubai, and Atlanta!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s never a smooth road. If it’s smooth – there can be only one of two things. 1) you’re underperforming 2) you’re doing it wrong.

In my journey, I have realized that being financially successful is easy – what’s difficult is being financially stable. The first million or hundred thousand is that struggle. Multiplying it is easy.

We’ve been impressed with Magnus Ventures, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are a network of private investors, who are keen to invest in entrepreneurs and startups from the United States, United Arab Emirates and Pakistan.

We also take pride in providing turnkey solutions. A boutique content creation and digital agency that visions unlimited possibilities.

We strive to make sure that the service we deliver is an innovative solution that can assure a return on investment for our clients and ourselves.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Like I said earlier, I grew up in Karachi, Pakistan in a neighborhood called Garden East. Karachi is a big city with over 20 million people living there. It is also the business hub of Pakistan and is home to the biggest port in the country.

I am the youngest sibling and therefore was extremely spoilt and the only son! My father was not an entrepreneur and worked a 9 to 5 job – in fact, he worked only in one organization his entire professional career. My mother was a homemaker. I have two elder sisters who used me as their guinea pig to test their makeup on!

It was a good childhood – I cannot complain.
