Today we’d like to introduce you to India Nicol.
Hi India, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started modeling about two years ago, I started off supporting a small business brand who booked me for their first brand shoot and I started making myself available to more businesses local to me. I pushed myself out and created a name for myself as a model. I started making content that would motivate other people who aspired to model as well, being consistent on social media. It payed off, it got me recognition. I never slowed down, Even when it seemed like all odds were against me. I kept going. I always loved modeling but I took the initiative by never being too afraid to reach out to people and network.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It’s 50/50. It’s been smooth to an extent just because of the drive that modeling gives me. It’s a lifestyle that I love and it keeps me going. I have a great team that’s always there when I need them. They’re a great support system. Although It does get difficult when you start doubting yourself and not knowing if what you’re doing is ENOUGH, You being your biggest critic becomes the hardest struggle.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a full-time Model and Influencer. I partake in photoshoots, runway shows, etc. I make motivational content that encourages people to strive for the certain lifestyle you desire. I’m most known for modeling/shooting for brands, but I’ve also been stepping into walking for Fashion Shows. I’m most proud of the name I built for myself. I’ve always kept myself very professional and kind to everyone. I work the camera and I don’t let the camera work me. Once I step in front of that camera, I automatically get in that zone. I feel as though what sets me apart from others is that I always continue to stay myself no matter how far along I get in my career. Remembering where you came from and acknowledging how fast that can change is very important.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I definitely see myself becoming much bigger over the course of 5-10 years. Walking for many more Fashion Shows, Modeling and Shooting for major brands. Making a name for myself as a versatile model and Fashion Icon.
