Today we’d like to introduce you to Mikal Bright Sr..
Hi Mikal, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Ok, so I was born in Texas but raised in Alabama. My parents are Military, so I have lived up and down the east coast. As a kid, I always loved Technology, and my first real taste of working on Tech was with my Mom. She had just given me a brand new Playstation, but I did not have a tv available.
Instead, I ended up taking apart my Mom’s work laptop and making a tv out of the laptop monitor, and it worked flawlessly, and she could not believe it. So many people still, to this day, can not believe this story. So now, fast forward to my High School days, we did not have an actual IT department, so our Social Studies teacher created one, and I asked him if I could join the team to help fix the computers around the school. He told me I could, and I loved it, and it gave me the first real taste of what it would be like to work in the Tech Industry. So fast forward to when I got married, and we moved to Georgia. My first official Tech Job was working with Google. It was scary but fun simultaneously because most of the computer repair I had completed in the past was on Teacher’s computers at a high school and for family members, not the servers running large companies. So, working in the Tech industry for the last ten years has been excellent. Working in different areas, I learned a lot from other Tech regions up to becoming Certified in Full Stack Web Development and a Drone Pilot. Gaining all that knowledge and my wife’s help, I start my own Technology business. So the whole drive behind me starting it was to help those that do not understand Technology to now be able to understand and comprehend it better and to also provide a helping hand to those people starting their business that need help with getting the Technology side setup the correct way.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The struggles started on a smooth road along the beach line in Aruba but then turned bumpy and very mountainous as if I was in Colorado driving thru the mountains at night. Being denied new jobs because I did not have enough work in tech experience or being denied a job because I did not have a College Degree or specific Certification was hard. Hearing all of this put me in the mindset that I could not do it or that they would not hire me. If it were not for my wife pushing me and trying to get me to see that it is just that job, I would not be where I am today. Also, the last Manager I worked with for providing the opportunity for me to show and grow. After this latest change, it has started to become smooth again and adding two kids to our beautiful marriage of 12 years to this beautiful beachside ride, and I would not change it for the world.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
So for me, I currently work with Microsoft Azure Cloud, specializing in Intune Device management, Azure Cloud, and VMWare Vsphere Management. This has taught me how to import and manage devices purchased by the company and to also provide a virtual server room so that a massive real server hardware setup is not needed to provide the best working environment. What I have been known for since I was little is the problem solver. Problem-solving is what I am most proud of since I have been a kid leading up to my career in Tech. Being able to find and fix problems is what gives me the drive to continue working in Technology. Being able to ask the right questions to solve hard problems is what sets me apart from others. I am able to turn what takes other people a few days to do down to just a few hours and in that process, I am also showing the user how to fix it themselves so that way it speeds up their work process and allows me to focus on other things.
What’s next?
My Plan for the future is to continue to build my business up to allow me to change over from working for a fortune 500 company to becoming one. I want to expand into a business that can provide small and startup companies with the IT coverage they need at a great price and to also provide the process of being able to give people who have chosen the same path as I did to get into the Technology Industry a career building road to success. More changes are coming and I can not wait for them to make the changes needed.
