Today we’d like to introduce you to Dana Nunnally.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Yes, of course. Hi! I’m Dana, founder + owner of Drench Sauna Studio!
I’m a school teacher by day; yoga teacher, sweat dealer, and mom by night! For most of my adult life, I’ve dreamed of creating a space that fosters healing, self-care, and enhanced health & well-being. I didn’t know exactly how that would look until recent years.
A few years ago, my dream evolved into a more defined vision. Long story short, I fell in love with the plethora of benefits that come from infrared sauna therapy, & I knew that Athens, GA needed a space where others could experience these benefits as well. With that, Drench was born. My vision of creating a space that fosters holistic wellness became a reality.
I’ve absolutely loved meeting our clients and learning about how the sauna has helped them in so many ways. I look forward to meeting + connecting with more and the growth that will come in the months + years to come.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
As you said, we all face challenges. That’s to be expected with opening, owning, and operating a business. I wouldn’t necessarily say it was a smooth road. There were definitely struggles and hoops to jump through. There’s no clear guide to opening and operating a small business, so perseverance is key! I looked for a location for over a year before securing our current location. Once we secured the location, the next challenge was acquiring all the right licenses/certificates to operate. Those were the biggest struggles. As the owner, my biggest struggle now that we’re open is to leave my new baby (Drench) in the hands of someone else and not be a helicopter boss. Luckily, we have a wonderful team of outgoing and motivated women who are eager to be a part of growing this new small business. For that, I am grateful.
As you know, we’re big fans of Drench Sauna Studio. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?

What was your favorite childhood memory?
When I was around 6 years old, I was traveling to Nantucket with my mother for Thanksgiving. To get to Nantucket from Athens, GA, you have to drive to the Atlanta airport, fly to Boston, and then take a 1.5 hour bus ride to Hyannis and THEN catch a one hour ferry to Nantucket Island.
On this particular trip, the airline lost our luggage, I peed my pants on the bus, and then we got snowed in and had to get a motel room and didn’t make it to Nantucket. It was just my mom and me snowed in somewhere in Massachusetts, and I’ll never forget how cozy my mom made this experience. Hashtag MOMS
