Conversations with Anastasia Artemiou

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anastasia Artemiou.

Hi Anastasia, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always wanted to be a cosmetologist. I had attended an Early College program in Highschool which meant in 5 years (instead of 4), you’d Graduate with your high school diploma and Associate’s degree. I graduated from Early college 2 years early in order to attend Cosmetology school. I was the youngest there (I was 17).

It took me over a year to graduate due to being pregnant with my first child. I graduated when I was about 6-7 months pregnant. A few months after her birth I ended up moving to Sweden with my husband. I didn’t do much with my license as I couldn’t work in Sweden. Long story short I ended up homeless in that country and fighting for my daughter. When I won, I moved back to the US and worked until I discovered Lash extensions in January of 2020 and that’s when Doll Like Beauty was born. I have been doing brows, lashes and makeup ever since.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it definitely was not a smooth road. I had moments of wanting to give up and not renewing my license but I ended up renewing it and trying again anyway.

When I first launched Doll Like Beauty, Covid had hit and I couldn’t work for a majority of that year. (2020).

Now I deal with Rheumatoid arthritis and HS disease (Hidradenitis suppurativa, it’s when I get large cysts that are severely painful) and sometimes it makes it hard to work. But I push through and continue.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a Cosmetologist and I specialize in Lash Extensions, Brows, and Makeup.

I am proud of how far I’ve come as an artist. I’ve worked hard and every day there is always room to grow.

I provide a healing experience for my clients. I come across as comforting and easy to talk to and you can tell that anything you say, is safe with me. I create a safe place to help my clients relax and bring out their inner Doll. It’s all about the experience.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Compassion. I am very compassionate and understanding. My clients love that I am so easygoing and always am there for them and that’s what keeps them coming back.
