Life & Work with Max Rae

Today we’d like to introduce you to Max Rae.

Hi Max, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I come from a very musical family. My parents actually met in the recording studio so it felt like I was destined to be in this industry. I was a dancer my entire life but found myself in the music industry around the age of 14. I started and was signed to an artist development company out in Nashville where I learned to write, collaborate, and work in front of a camera. I would fly back and forth from my hometown New Mexico to Nashville once a month during high school my first year then move to Atlanta. Atlanta was and has been so good to me. I filmed my first ever music video for my first single there and my vocal coach Mama Jan is based there so I go back often. I’ve been blessed to work with and collaborate with talented Grammy Award-winning people. Since COVID I’ve found a new love of producing as well and I’m working towards becoming a master at it. Atlanta will always be a home away from home for me.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s definitely not been a smooth road. This industry is a moving target full of ups and downs. People try to put you in a mold and fit you into a box. I’ve had to find my way out of it since the beginning all the way down to my name. Can you believe they wanted me to change my name to “Autumn Skye”?! Haha, no way! With social media and over-saturation, it’s very hard to be seen and find stability. It’s a daily struggle, but one that I think is totally worth it in the end when you’re able to share your artistry and heart with the world.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I really hate bragging about myself it definitely feels awkward but here we go! I’m a Pop Artist who has made waves with my unique voice, incredible and sophisticated songs, and stunning unbelievable music videos. It’s hard to believe, but the team behind me is super small consisting of one person who does all my creative content from single covers, photo shoots, filming, editing, and directing all my music videos his name is Kreature things. I firmly believe that your team doesn’t have to be big to be extraordinary you just have to have the right people in their right roles. I write my songs from the heart and I’m a part of the entire process. I want to make a positive impact in this world and strive to always have a light to my music and sound.

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
Pressure makes diamonds. I’ve never grown more on social media or in my songwriting more than in quarantine. I really dove into producer classes and found a serious passion for it which never would’ve happened without quarantine.
