Hidden Gems: Meet Jennifer Cobbs of JC Aesthetics

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Cobbs.

Hi Jennifer, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I am a board-certified Physician Assistant and native of Georiga. The youngest of 3, I grew up in a small town with a love of music and fine arts. In the 4th grade, I audition and was accepted into a Magnet Fine Arts school. It fundamentally changed me, by exposing me to a different world and new opportunities.

My days were filled with art class, dance and music while still completing my required college prep courses. When I went to college, my goal was to focus on medicine, I learned about the Physician Assistant profession and was immediately intrigued. After graduation in 2005, I pursue advanced training as an Obstetrics and gynecology PA in California. While I love taking care of my patients, I felt that something was missing.

I went back to school to obtain my Masters in PA studies in 2011.  After graduating, I began working in Aesthetic Medicine and all the pieces came together. Finding the blend between my artistic and medical skills was the place that brought the most joy.

My personality is one that is driven by learning new techniques and Aesthetic Medicine always keeps you on your toes. When I am not in the clinic, I am studying, attending conferences, training, and listening to webinars to stay up to date.

I have worked in medical spas and plastic surgery offices so it allowed me to see the best in both worlds. It is a unique experience because I have seen both sides. I understand the capabilities and limitations of aesthetic injectables. It is a responsibility to educate my patients on realistic expectations and surgical options.

In 2017, I was honored to be selected as a National Trainer for Allergan Facial Aesthetics (the makers of Botox and Juvederm fillers).  My work includes consulting as a key opinion leader for new products and training providers on facial aesthetic injections across the country.

In addition, JC Aesthetics LLC was created as I branded my skill for clinical practice and began offering private training as well.  In 2021, Revance Aesthetics (makes of RHA filler and now Daxxify) invited me to join their National Training Team as well.

In January 2022, I joined the new Lemmon Avenue Atlanta practice in Dunwoody, GA. It was a unique opportunity to work with like-minded practitioners with an emphasis on advanced aesthetic services and patient care. Lemmon Avenue started in Dallas, TX under the leadership of Dr. Mark and Cary Deuber.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road, when I started in the Aesthetic Medicine a decade ago it was difficult to get into the industry. There was a good bit of rejection before an opportunity presented itself. It required me to preserve through the rejection and have a strong belief in myself and my goals. I worked harder and studied more to grow my skills and set a path to say yes to new opportunities.

In addition, there was very little diversity. As an African American woman, this industry did not reflect a diverse definition of beauty. All of the training and marketing material focused on one type of patient. I was determined to prove that standards of beauty have evolved and are different. The way I approached my work is by looking at the individual and making sure that they are represented.

As I become more involved in the field, doors open for me to become a trainer.  Over the years, I have been able to in small part impact the growth of diversity in this community. I will continue to strive to help others know that there is a place for them in this industry too!

We’ve been impressed with JC Aesthetics LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
JC Aesthetics started becasue I wanted to offer aesthetics clinical service focused on my patients needs. It has evolved and grown to include private trainings as well.

I currently offer my clinical treatments at Lemmon Avenue Atlanta with The Atlanta Injectors team.

We offer advanced aesthetic services such as Botox, Dysport, and Daxxify to address dynamic wrinkles. Facial Treatments with dermal fillers such as Juvederm, Restylane, and RHA collection of fillers to address anti-aging through facial balancing treatments.  We address areas such as cheeks, temples, undereye rejuvenation, smile lines, lips, jawline, chin, etc.

We offer platlet rich fibrin (PRF) injections for facial areas and hair restoration. Body treatments such as Sculptra butt lifts, Radiesse neck and abdominal rejuvenation with collagen stimulators. Mint PDO thread lifts for the face and body to improve sagging skin.  Microneedling, skincare treatments, chemical peels, and more.

As a provider, I take a holistic approach to determine the best treatment for my patients. By combining multiple modalities and creating a long-term treatment plans we build a relationship of trust and mutual understanding. I take pride in continual education to  stay up to date on the most advanced techniques such as usage of facial ultrasound for safety and management of our patients.

In the clinically setting, we are so proud to have an amazing and diverse patient population and they are truly making an impact on the world. We believe that everyone can and should be represented in this industry. We love watching each patient leave feeling more confident with every visit. At the end of the day, it is all about our patients.

As a training company, we offer private training with a team of talented trainers- Madison Holmes NP, Jennifer Liechty NP and myself (Jenn Cobbs PA-C) for injectors currently in practice looking to advance their skills or learn new skills.

How do you think about happiness?
Happiness for me is about making a positive impact on the world. I feel like I get to make small contributions each day through the patients. They are the teachers, physicians, entrepreneurs, parents working daily to affect postive change in the world.  My job is to simply give them more confidence to do it.

My happiness is also found in my family and friends. My husband keeps me grounded and helps me to maintain a balanced in work and life. We find joy in spending time together, helping others and traveling.
