Ebonee , it’s been too long since we last connected. Thanks so much for taking the time to share your thoughts with our community again. Some readers might have missed our prior conversations, so maybe you can kick things off for us with a quick intro?
My name is Ebonee Hammonds-Copeland. I am an entrepreneur, city councilmember for the city of Center Point, AL, and new real estate investor. I live in the Birmingham, AL area. I am a new franchise owner of The Peach Cobbler Factory and will be opening my new store in Trussville, AL in the next few months. I have a couple short term rental properties listed on Airbnb in Chicago and Milwaukee that cater to traveling professionals needed long term housing accommodations, but are also available for anyone needing to rent for short term as well.
We’d love to start by hearing about how your short term rental business and real estate investing is going?
I have been in the short-term rental business through rental arbitrage for about a year now. I started with my Chicago property, and now recently have acquired a property in Milwaukee. The business is going very well. My occupancy has been steady and is growing as expected. I also invested in a few tax properties in Indiana last year and making plans for renovation.
Are there any new business ventures that you have recently started? What can you share with us?
Yes! I am excited that as of January, I am a new franchise owner of the Peach Cobbler Factory. It’s a wonderful company that have been franchising just a short time, but has made some incredible progress in opening up almost 30 stores. I have secured a location for my store that will be in Trussville, AL. I plan to be open and operating by summer.
Where do you see yourself professionally in the next five years?
Professionally in the next few years I see my self growing more entrepreneurially but having a few more franchise locations, as well as investing more in real estate. My ultimate goal is to invest in to multi-family and commercial properties.
