Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Q Peacock.
Hi Lauren Q, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born and raised in Long Island, NY. Growing up, I always reenacted tv shows and movies with my cousins. I joined the drama club in 6th grade and my mother began taking me to auditions for talent agencies in NYC. That was the beginning of my acting career which has blossomed for me in Atlanta, Georgia where I reside now.
I purchased my first home in 2019. I was very hands-on with the process of buying my home. At my closing, the agent who represented me expressed how impressed he was with me throughout my deal. I was offered the opportunity to work for his company. I took the Real Estate course, passed the exams, and became a licensed Real Estate shortly after.
I combined my love for both careers into one brand for real estate marketing called The Acting Realtor.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Both careers have their own set of unique obstacles but are similar in ways. It’s vital to market yourself in both Acting and Real Estate. The competition is challenging, especially when you are just beginning. Making sure your finances are in line for these kinds of careers is very important. I did not have my first transaction for Real Estate until over a year after getting my license. I did not have my first paid acting gig until years into my career. When Covid hit, I worked different jobs that took my focus away from acting and I was also studying for my Real Estate License. The sacrifice was hard but I used that break to make sure that would never happen again.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am an Actress who is also a Licensed Real Estate Agent covering the state of Georgia.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
When it comes to finding a mentor, the most important thing for me was having someone who challenged me in my corner. A lot of times, we are so stuck in our own ways that it can get in the way of our goals. Networking can and should happen every day and everywhere. We have conversations with people daily. Many success stories with finding real estate clients or meeting a major casting director, a talent agent and etc., began in a setting as simple as the grocery store.
