Check Out JuJu Lee’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to JuJu Lee.

Hi JuJu, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My passion for fashion started during college. I was working for a well-known shoe store that was adamant about hiring people that matched their brand identity. There I had the chance to explore fashion and tried to be exceptionally stylish with each outfit I put together. In college, I studied creative arts with a concentration in music technology. However, it gave me a chance to get a glimpse into fashion education on top of numerous other things (graphic design, acting, videography, coding, etc.). I took a couple of sewing classes outside of college and started creating pieces for myself. I would constantly get compliments and inquiries, which prompt me to create my first company. Fast forward years later, into 2019 when I started my athleisure line ‘JuJu Lee’. Doing custom designs was and is very time-consuming; so I decided to manufacture athletic wear. It gave me a chance to expand my reach and put a creative spin on athleisure wear.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been challenging because there’s a lot of things I need to learn. Going into it, I thought if I created a website, then I would automatically get sales. I realized that I had to go out there and tell people about my brand. Not only that, I had to self-evaluate from those interactions and constantly push myself to become a better businessman.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a recording artist, fashion designer and actor. But I’m mainly known as a fashion designer, doing pop-up shops and markets all around NYC has definitely brought a lot of awareness to the brand name ‘JuJu Lee’. I think what sets me apart is that people are able to explore the brand, JuJu Lee, is different art forms. I want to expand my creativity as much as possible so that it’s difficult for people to place me in a box.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
I think the most important lesson I’ve learned is to keep on creating, but after you’re done creating you have to find a way to show a lot of people what you’ve made.
