Conversations with Taylor Nixon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Nixon.

Hi Taylor, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My journey started at Georgia State University with a student organization known now as NCEG (National Collegiate Entertainment Group.) While a part of this group, I discovered my passion for performing and networked with students interested in the music industry. I learned a lot about stage presence, how to create moments within music and to tell a story specific to who I am as an artist.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The road has been everything but smooth. I’ve had a very difficult time finding financial stability and unwavering support while chasing my dream. It was also very hard for me to figure out who I was as an artist because I was too focused on surviving and putting my eggs into so many different baskets.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My music is a voice for multidimensional women who believe their value doesn’t stop at what’s between their legs. Musically, I specialize in powerful storytelling, captivating listeners with intricate flows and a dynamic vocal range that gives each word an intentional feeling.

I am known for mesmerizing performances that leave a once-foreign audience desperate to know more about me as an artist. Most know me for my incredible stage presence, energy and the level of attention I bring to each detail of my sets.

I am most proud of my perseverance and tenacity in pursuing my dreams. I wasn’t always right in my decision making nor did I necessarily know what I was doing. Yet, I still had the courage to try and that is something I will always love about myself.

What sets me apart from others is my story and the way I tell It. I have a twin brother and even he hasn’t lived the exact same life as me. My perspective of my experiences is my gift to the world. Everybody can rap about love, war, politics, sex, etc. But only I can rap about it from my perspective. That’s my power.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
One of my favorite quotes comes from one of my favorite poets:

“Love gives naught but itself and takes naught but from itself. Love possesses not nor would it be possessed; For love is sufficient unto love. When you love, you should not say, “God is in my heart,” but rather, “I am in the heart of God.” – Khalil Gibran

If I am love, then the only thing that can satisfy me is love. Which is why love is the only thing that matters.
