Meet Young Keyz

Today we’d like to introduce you to Young Keyz.

Hi Young, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
It started when I was 17 in high school the ten-toes down the challenge was around and I was going through something at that time. I was a little depressed throughout that school year so I did the challenge. I went to school the next day and people was feeling it they was giving me compliments. Then one day, I just started listening to beats and decided to express how I felt through writing raps. Before all this when I was in middle school, I already loved writing books & it was real situations me and my family was going through. I never imagined that I’ll be actually expressing myself through music though. I got to where I’m at today by staying dedicated and passionate.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Being a female artist hasn’t been a smooth ride. I feel like at times it was a bit hard for me to stay consistent, trusting people because there’s a lot of scammers out here, then on top of having a baby and taking a break, having writer’s block, trying to find myself, etc.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a female artist. I rap and write my own music. I’m known for making music. I’m proud of my growth because if you take a look at my YouTube channel, you can see back from when I first started to now. I feel like me coming in with my own style & being myself sets me apart from others and also my voice cause I don’t sound like everybody else.

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
I learned that being to myself is best because sometimes you actually have to go through things alone to actually grow and become a better you.
