Check Out Ashia Jones’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashia Jones.

Ashia Jones

Hi Ashia, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve always had a passion for doing hair and teaching as a little girl. Growing up, I watched my aunts do hair in the kitchen. I didn’t really fall in love with the beauty industry until I graduated from high school. After graduation, I enrolled into Kenneth Shuler School of Cosmetology and I received my Cosmetology license in 2007. Once I obtained my license, I started working in different hair salons and later took platform artistry classes with Nairobi hair care and worked behind the scenes with their models for Bronner Brother Hair-shows. While working with the models, I developed a love for makeup artistry. While doing makeup, several models expressed their skincare issues and concerns with me. They felt ashamed because of hyperpigmentation, acne and not knowing how to treat their skin. I connected with them and understood their concerns because growing up as a teenager, I also struggled with hormonal acne and I remember being called “Goosebumps” in middle school! That is what pushed me to gain more knowledge about skincare and how to educate clients while performing makeup services. In 2017, I went back to Kenneth Shuler for their Esthetics program. In 2018, I obtained my Esthetics license, and fast forward to today, I am currently a licensed Esthetics Instructor for Paul Mitchell Beauty School and ClarityRx Certified Pro Master Esthetician.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been a smooth road. One of the main struggles is consistent clientele and building your client’s trust. With there being so many over-the-counter products and social media influencers, clients tend to believe that they don’t need professional help. So it is imperative that as Estheticians and beauty professionals, we educate our clients and give them take-home skincare products and step-by-step instructions on how to properly care for their skin.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am known for being a makeup artist. I love makeup artistry but I love educating people about their skin more. I am most proud of my accomplishments and overcoming obstacles in life! What sets me apart from others is my belief in knowing that O can accomplish whatever I set my mind to, my faith, and my ability to make people love themselves and have confidence! I also have a Podcast called “Makeover Monday Podcast”. It was created to help women build their confidence, feel good in their own skin and keep them motivated!

What’s next?
My plans for the future are to evolve into the best version of myself, become one of the top Esthetics Educators for Paul Mitchell Beauty School, and to continue growing my business and inspiring others.
