Today we’d like to introduce you to Rico Gonzalez.
Hi Rico, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I am currently approaching my third year in professional wrestling, and I am the happiest I have been in my life. Professional wrestling has given me an outlet for creativity and athleticism like nothing else can come close to. I have also found one of my greatest friendships and my lover through this crazy world. Grateful is an understatement because I am able to travel with my friends and work at a craft that I love, and despite all the negatives that come with it, the positives currently outweigh all of that!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I don’t think the road is “smooth” for anyone in this business. We all have our doubts, and it’s a crazy profesión or for some, hobby that we choose since we perform and are pretty much evaluated by peers, haters, Twitter, fans, veterans, and pretty much anyone watching any time we go through that curtain. It will make you feel like you’ll never win if you allow it to! Such as life, though and if you learn to just enjoy the ride and the adrenaline when performing, it’s one of the most beautiful forms of sport and entertainment that exists!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a current professional wrestler/sports entertainer (depending on who you ask) on the independents here in the U.S. I’ve been on the road all over the states for a couple of years now and I’m known to just pop up at several promotions across the U.S. I’m most proud of being a quick learner and always loving any type of challenge thrown my way, whether it is in the ring or on a personal level.
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
Taking risks is what motivates me and challenges me to be better! What’s life without risk? In professional wrestling/sports entertainment, there’s always a risk involved of being hurt every time you step in the ring, but for me personally, the risk is always in the performance or challenging myself to try something new as a character or in ring!
