Today we’d like to introduce you to Sara Fulmer.
Hi Sara, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I grew up outside of NYC and worked in the baby apparel industry for over a decade. After being recruited in 2007 to Atlanta for a job, I discovered the gift industry at America’s Mart in downtown Atlanta.
Intrigued, I decided to start consulting in the gift area. I saw the lack of better-designed gifts and toys. Being a designer for over 20 years, I was lucky enough to travel around the world scoping out the latest trends. I wanted to do the same for the gift industry.
I ended up partnering with a client of mine who had a similar vision. After launching MON AMI in December 2018 online only, we decided we needed to get into the wholesale business. Living so close to America’s Mart, and having the experience working with sales reps, we quickly started doing trade shows and signed on rep agencies across the country and Canada.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I don’t think a smooth road exists! There’s always going to be a crack in the road, a few stones. The biggest challenge was the same as many, COVID, and the shipping logistical issues that followed.
We were lucky that it did not affect us too much, and are still on track.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I have always been creative. I loved to draw and paint when I was younger. However, I also loved the business side of the arts. I am greatful landed a career up my alley!
Currently, we design and manufacture elegant plush toys, dolls, accessories, and seasonal decor. I’m proud of how a single spark turned into fireworks. All past experiences lead us to this point, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk-taking.
The risk I took was not jumping back into the corporate world and creating a brand.
