Today, we’d like to introduce you to Supa Star Six.

Supa Star Six

Hi Supa, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
I grew up in a small country town in Southern Georgia. Literally on the Florida-Georgia line. My family was heavily into music, so naturally, I would gravitate toward getting involved in some capacity. My mother was a singer, and my dad was a DJ. She was performing one night at a local bar, and that’s how they met.

A short time after, I was conceived. She continued to perform all the way up until I was born. I guess you can say I was destined to become the musical genius that I am today. I started trying to rap at the tender age of 3 or 4 and by the time I was 7, I had written my first song. It wasn’t until age 9, that I knew for certain that music was what I wanted to do when I grew up. I started tinkering around with old equipment laying around the house and managed to record a demo tape. At first, my mom was like, boy, no! You need to play basketball and try to go to college. I guess because she didn’t think it was a possibility, but when I hit 7th grade, I begged for a keyboard for Christmas.

That was the best gift she could’ve ever given me besides giving me life because I went on to become a music producer and songwriter later in life. Now, I played basketball and was actually ranked in the nation for my defensive skills. I was a top recruit in my class, but my love was still the music. I was determined to have a major record deal before I graduated high school. Sure enough, life took on a different path and my demo ended up on the desk of legendary boxing promoter Ronald Butch Lewis. I was 17 years old at the time and currently still in high school. Butch flew me out to New York City and signed me to a management contract.

Now what I didn’t know was he was negotiating a deal with LA Reid and Jay Z at the time to form a new record label, Voicez Music Group/Def Jam. And I would be the first act that they were planning to release. This was definitely what I consider a pivotal point in my career! After running around in New York for a while, other labels started to take notice, and that’s when I started getting multiple offers. I decided not to sign right away and continued my path of building my brand and learning more about the business aspects of the industry.

That following year, I landed Unsigned Hype in The Source Magazine and started touring the south east. I released a slew of mixtapes to build momentum for my debut album, “I’m The Underdog”. In 2008, I ran into Ricardo Cruz who was making a name for himself as a concert promoter. I had met him a few years prior. He decided to take me on tour with him. I shared the stage with the likes of 50 Cent, Flo Rida, Ti, Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, Trina, and more! Life seemed surreal and then boom! Everything went left! I had a few minor wins but life really started lifing. By 2010, I had to make some hard decisions and I decided to go back to school and further my education in business.

By 2012, I was almost on the verge of quitting music, but something kept telling me I couldn’t! My personal life was a train wreck and I was in complete struggle mode. I dropped out of college and ended up in Jacksonville Fl where everything seemed to progressively worsen! I was at the end of the rope until I decided I needed to take control of my life and go after what I knew was mine! I made some phone calls and started planning my move to Atlanta. In 2014, I packed up everything I had left and headed to the city. I hit the ground running! During my first 30 days in Atlanta, I was back in the circles that I was in almost 10 years prior.

I started producing and writing for various artists and even decided to try my hand at acting. I ended up on several major Hollywood sets. Captain America, The Fifth Wave, Alvin and The Chipmunks, and others. Fast forward to now. We’ve got a lot to cover in this interview, and believe me, you’ll definitely want to hear it!

Alright, let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
The road to success is never a smooth one! If anybody tells you that, they’re lying, sure enough. Life is about learning through experience. Even with a teacher telling you, you’ll still have to see for yourself. My struggles, for the most part, were well worth it because I learned from them. I didn’t come from a wealthy family, so I had to learn how to make money independently.

Learn how to manage it, and hope that I made the right decisions. Where I grew up, there were few to no resources or opportunities for people aspiring to succeed in the entertainment industry. So I had to do every single thing that I needed. My producer, engineer, graphic designer, you name it!

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a singer-songwriter, music producer, and entrepreneur. I’m known for all of the above. I’m most proud of the fight that I have in me to win! I believe in perseverance and always overcoming obstacles. I’m proud of myself for not quitting!

Everything about me sets me apart from others. My life experiences, my undeniable talent and skill, my will power and mental strength, my ability to captivate audiences and make you want to get up and be the best version of yourself that you can be!

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
My favorite book right now is the one that I’m writing! My favorite app is capcut. I’m a fan of anything inspirational. I follow a bunch of random but meaningful channels on YouTube.
